  • Renault Kangoo Combi (1999 - 2004) - 2000 1.4 Dash board warning indicators 3 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi I have just bought a Renault Kangoo RXE 1.4 petrol (year 2000) It starts and runs fine but I the hand book shows two warning lights that don't appear to work on my car. The one I am most concerned about is the 'tell-tale light 2' (a rectangular box with a zig zag line in it). It is also descibed as an ' electronic incident warning light.
  • Nissan Patrol (1992 - ) - Watsit worth, guv ?? 26 Oct 2008 (Forum)
With a business partner we run an unusual vehicle : AN LPG converted 1996 LWB Nissan Patrol . Top of the range 4.2 auto with leather, working A/C , selectable 4 wd. Now, this vehicle has been abused aesthetically : surface scratches , a missing wheel arch guard, driver's door lock doesn't open from outside , worn boot carpet, intermittent passenger electric window etc .
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2002 2.0 Diesel misfire 21 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Presuming this is a faulty sensor as the level is fine. Local auto electrician hooked the car up. Cleared all faults and said lets run it for a wk or so. See what shows. The misfire continued and he was baffled so the car went to a diesel specialists. Not peugeot main dealer though. They said it had a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor which was replaced.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 2.0HDi - Fuse keeps blowing 28 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Disconnected the rear wash wipe and removed the relay connected to it. Replaced fuse again and it blew again. A friend has said it could be the wiring that runs through the A-pillar to the door, which seems logical. But before I start investigating I'd really appreciate if anyone can give me any other ideas on what might be causing this. Thanks
  • Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 petrol - revs up at idle 25 Sep 2008 (Forum)
If left for 15 mins or so it will restart and behave normally for a day or so, then repeat the above. Only does it when warmed up. Runs fine when cold. No check engine light, and no fault codes on a Skoda dealer's diagnostics nor an independent garage's. The independent had a look at the throttle body and said there was some muck in there, but not much.
  • Volkswagen Touran MPV (2003 - ) - Variable servicing - getting suspicious 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My wife runs a 2004 (04) VW Touran 1.9 TDi 105 on a variable servicing programme. We bought the car brand new from our local VW dealer (after waving the drivethedeal price under his nose :-)). It has just gone over the 50,000 mile mark, and the service indicator spanner thing has flashed up showing a service required in 400 miles.
  • Rows of perfectly parked cars for sale. 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Of course the cars will be too close together for any purchaser to be able to look around them, but this seems not to matter. This seemingly only happens at the large chains of dealerships, the more family run and smaller affairs don't take this pride in perfect parking. Do car buyers here like this wondrous display of perfection or even notice it?
  • Rover Streetwise (2003 - 2005) - No fault accident advice please 9 Sep 2008 (Forum)

  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1998 1.8 Vibrations above 3000rpm 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
The dealer said that it could just be a bit of a mis-fire as the car had been taken out cold after standing for a while. Its been 2 days and even after running the car for a while to bring it up to temperature the vibration is still there. The engine is still keen after 3000 revs but the vibration stops me pushing it too far. When driving around town today I also noticed the vibration appearing when pulling away on a hill and when accelerating in too high a gear (ie, putting my foot down in third at 20mph).
  • Ford Escort (1990 - 1992) - 1994 1.6LXi - Immobiliser Problems 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Bought a Ford Escort 1.6 LXi 1994 a couple of months ago. Its been running great and been a great money saver in these bleak times. Last week went out in it to post some parcels, staterd up first time as always no fault. Pulled up parcel depot and jumped out to put the parcels in which took 5 minutes.
  • Nissan Primera III (1999 - 2002) - 00 1.8 Engine management + oil pressure lights 1 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Assuming a sensor glitch when the engine management light first appeared I was going to wait until the MOT (due Sep 12th) but I'm not so sure now. The engine is running normally and the oil level is just under the max -- exactly where it was 5000 miles ago when the car was last serviced. Additionally, about 2000 miles ago the light that tells you when the screenwash is low stopped functioning.
  • No Claims Bonus 24 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was previously insured with Direct Line and, as long as I re-insure with them I will keep my 12 years no claims that i had accumulated as they 'hold' your no claims for 3 years. The problem is that the 3 years runs out in March 2009. I won't be back in the country and the owner of a car again (can't wait!) until August 2009. As far as I can see I have 3 options: 1) Lose the no claims bonus. 2) Get dad to organise the purchase and insurance of a car on my behalf before the 3 years is up and have it sitting in my parents driveway (with a SORN?)
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0hdi Rear Wiper fault 21 Aug 2008 (Forum)
(6 pin) 2047029 on the outside. (just to note i have only just sorted a leaking wiper problem, half the water was running down the back of the boot and in to the back, the foam on the carpet in the back was soaking wet) I've checked the relay, taken the cover off and it appears to be ok, no sign of water ingress. (see above) With the relay still connected, the cover off, and power on to the veh, if you push the contacts on the solonoid on the relay the wipers work, in both positions 0 (off) and 1 (intermittent).
  • Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 99 2.0 Hdi Electrical niggles 20 Aug 2008 (Forum)
If the car is stopped and engine is restarted then the airbag lamp will go out- only to return flashing after a minute or so of running. *also* when i restart the car the Traffic Master system chimes in after the engine has started- which it has never done before, and is quite irritating. In addition, around a week ago the alarm kept going off while on the drive for no reason whatsoever- everything is locked and secured as it should be.
  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1995 1.4 PTE SEFI erratic misfire when warm 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
    Recently the car has started to show the symptoms within a few minutes of driving from cold and is becoming dangerous to drive. I don't know whether the erratic running is caused by ignition or fuel problems Can anyone help with any ideas which will be appreciated, otherwise I scrap the vehicle at the end of the month {subject header made less vague by including a brief summary of the question being asked}
  • Multi-Volume Threads 5 Aug 2008 (Forum)
As I don't know how many MV threads there are I don't know whether it's a case of a separate line for each one, or a Generic title followed by a sub list. Generic suggestions I've just thought of include Multi-Volume, Long Running, Perennial Topics, Popular, but do you have any other possibilities? It won't take an Einstein to realise I have a query that is only loosely Motoring related, and am wondering if there is a 'hidden' thread to research, but I'm not going to put the actual query here.
  • Ford Sierra and Sapphire (1982 - 1993) - Failure to relicense 11 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi folks, On the 24th February this year I bought a Ford Sierra and the tax was due to run out on the 30th of April this year. As you do,I got on with my life and never give it a second thought. Of course I did apply for a V5 as the previous owner could not find the original. I can't remember exactly what date it was when I applied for the V5.
  • Lipstick on your collar, asphaltines in your tank. 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
So what`s best for the car (or filter) that only gets through a tank of diesel every few weeks in Winter? On the one hand, the tank could be gradually run to empty, letting condensation occur with risk of creatures living in the water drop in the fuel filter base, feeding on the fuel and skeletons building up in a pile... Alternatively the tank could be topped off with a gallon or so weekly.
  • Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - 07 1.8 Rear Door Handle & Trim Falling off 2 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I purchased the car about 8 weeks ago from a used ford dealer (the car was ex ford direct) and to my shock noticed today that both the rear door handle and external trim have broken off at one end (The trim runs under the rear door handle and spans the width of the door). From what I can gather, over time the door handle has become worn, and has eventually snapped at one side also taking some of the trim with it.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.6 Engine Rattling Sound - Video in post. 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
The noise is coming from the belt side but I can't work out if it's from the top or the bottom of the engine. A family member poured water over the alt belt and the sound went away and was running smooth until a couple of hours later (probably dried out). It's been booked in to Vx for a cam belt kit change on Saturday but I'm not sure if I should change the water pump too - son can only afford a cheapy new one from ebay rather than the £100+ Vx part.
