  You MUST switch them off when visibility improves. When it's raining, approaching a car with its front fog lights on can dazzle you, but the effect is far worse coming up behind a car with its rear fog(s) on, even when it's dry - at worst, you can be nearly blinded, especially if your windscreen hasn't been cleaned for a while, and/or you have a heated windscreen with its fine wire element showing (until recently basically Fords, soon to be more widespread I believe).

  I bought a Rover 25 2000 1.4 and has a fault with the front wipers. If you put them onto Intimittent they only go half across windscreen, sometimes less and then some more etc. On First setting they go Fine but when you switch them to off they stay on windscreen where they were when you turned them off immediately.

  Hey guys, I've got a '99 1.9TDI Passat with Climate Control, with a strange fault. Everything is fine with the temperature on low, but as soon as i change it to any kind of heat, i get a vapour and that 'hot water' smell come through the windscreen vent. Although the temperature gauge doesn't work, the cars not over heating, as i drove it 200 miles yesterday with no problem.

  Anyway - I had the work done while at the garage and picked the car up. On inspector the work done by the windscreen company as I was not on site when they were done, the guy who replaced the front windscreen, has damaged the out seal that's on the edge of the window on the outside.

  I have purchased a '95 Renault Clio 12.RL for my son. The heater / blower works fine in all areas apart from the front windscreen. When the switch is turned to windscreen, the blower is working except nothing is coming out of the front vents. The four speeds work fine and the other vents work fine apart from these.

  Is it just the cars I've had - Peugoet/Citroen/Ford/Volvo - or do other cars have washer nozzles that freeze up. It sure isn't rocket science to use some of all that spare heat under the bonnet to keep things warm. It's dangerous to have a dirty windscreen on the motorway that you can't wash because things are frozen up.

  Does anyone know how the heated front windows work in the Ford Fiestas. I noticed last week that it has the tiny wires in the front windowscreen but I don't know how to turn them on to clear frost etc. Will it be on the same button as the rear window heater?!?!

  A couple of months ago during my car's annual service and MOT the Mazda dealer fitted new wiper blades front and rear. since then the near-side front wiper judders, makes and awful noise and leaves a trail of lines. I've cleaned the screen with methylated spirit...but the wiper still judders.

  A friend arrived up late last night in her 54-reg Toyota Avensis hatchback. Nice car, but she wasn't pleased about the broken rear windscreen. For various reasons (NCB etc), she didn't want to claim on insurance. So we called out a well-known windscreen company, who are repairing it as we speak -- at a cost of £620, which was reduced from £700 because she's an RAC member.

  After the recent bad winter the front windscreen wipers are causing a problem. They appear to be running slower than before and the nearside arm judders when it is parking. It also judders at the park position when it is cleaning intermittently but moves freely whilst cleaning continuously.

  I was thinking today about those sunshades that are placed inside the car against the windscreen, specifically the aluminium foil type. The set up is exactly the same as the solar heating panel on the roof of my son's house - a glass panel with the reflector placed about three inches below it.
