  I need a vehicle to tow my caravan and have seen a Volvo V70 turbo diesel 1997 R reg with 130000 miles on. Full Volvo service history, asking price £9995. Good spec. with aircon. Whole vehicle looks good. What are the likely faults at this mileage? Obviously much of the mileage will have been motorway.

  Just a quick update for all those who kindly replied to my query regarding opinions on Volvo V70's. I had a quick go in a D5 today thanks to my kindly local dealer. Not a V70 but a S60 Auto which is basically the same car. Pretty impressed with the engine - nice and smooth and good performance.

  I’ve been considering leasing next time and I received some very helpful advice and tips from a thread on here a few months back. I’ve decided that if I do change, I’d like to try a V60. Volvo have recently introduced a 190 bhp petrol engined version which on paper suits me fine. I’ve been enjoying weighing up the pros and cons and veering between changing and sticking, but just today a significant development has thrown it all up in the air again.

  My in-laws have been car hunting and looking for a reasonable sized estate. They've found one of these in a local Volvo dealer, and they both like it a lot. They do piffling mileage, and really should be going petrol, but my father-in-law has always driven diesels, will always drive diesels, and really there's no point even going there.

  Due to personal reasons including nostalgia growing up and the cars my late father used to drive, I am more interested in cars from the 80s/early 90s. Particular models I would love to own include: Volvo 340, Volvo 240, Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 2, Volvo 440, Vauxhall Astra Mk 2 and the Rover 400 (pre 1995). The only car I have driven so far is a Chevrolet Aveo. Would I have a hard time with any of these cars?

  Finally the message on dash says 'urgent, srs airbag service' accompanied by a red exclamation mark within a red triangle. Is this message easy to remove, or is it volvos way of relieving me of cash to 'plug' in their diag gear? cheers

  Also, auto box fluid not as clean as I like so will change myself ( I usually do all but major items myself). Handbook says 'absolutely nothing but Volvo fluid' but is this true or a marketing ploy for their branded, expensive fluid? Surely, a suitable dexron rated alternative is acceptable?   I will still be doing a bit of travelling for work, but not as much as I do now. I originally had a budget of about £15k, and initially had opted for a Volvo V50 (as new as possible). However, I have now fallen in love with the new Honda CRV. I was trawling online, and could only find the old style CRV in my price bracket. But then found a CRV new shape '56' plate for £16.5k.
