Lexus, Toyota, GM, others - Hybrids - good to drive? how about 2nd hand 24 Jan 2014 (Forum)
A diesel start up is hardly an enticing thing. I know the BMW in question is NOT a hybrid, but I also know that Toyota/Lexus, GM, Honda all have different approaches to their Hybrids. I once test drove a used Lexus 400h and by memory it pulls away from stationary entirely on electic power, and the petrol kicks in when needed, this would seem to me to be a far better solution. -

Lexus RX300 2006 62k mileage £4500 - Used vehicle not fit for purpose, dealer arguing 14 Jan 2022 (Forum)
I recently bought a Lexus RX300 2006 with 62k mileage for £4500 MOT was 10th Feb 2020, bought it on 10th May 2020. Test drive fine and everything seemed to run ok. 10 days later took for a full service and the garage told me the bad news about it having massive corrosion underneath with corroded pipes, major oil leak, parking brake broken, tyre down to the rim. -
Paint work warranty - worth nothing! 16 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Unless I keep the car in a sealed bubble, its exposed to external influences! My father in law rarely washes his Lexus, and it is always peppered with droppings, but when it gets washed there is never a mark on the paintwork! Obviously comparing a Renault to a Lexus is like comparing a Lada to a Jaguar, but paint is paint, and if Lexus (Toyota) can get it right, why can't Renault? -

Audi...mmm....common as muck and dull and boring unless S series and bone jarring ride and potentially expensive upkeep. BMW....nuff said. Cars I like the look of....Honda Legend, Mazda 6 or 3 MPS, Lexus IS250, Lexus GS300, Mazda 6 high spec Zugara or similar with 2.3l engines. Small luxury cars? 11 Jan 2008 (Forum)
If BMW produced a more space efficient 1-series. If the MINI had four doors, a better ride and better engines. If Lexus simply produced a 'mini' IS250. Considering the number of retired people coming out of large executive saloons, I would have thought that a manufacturer could clean up a car with the attributes noted above. -
Opinions sought 23 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Currently driving lovely but ageing 98 Lexus GS. Bored now. Do I spend 14-16k on: 1999-2000 Audi A8 4.2 Quattro, solid, goes like a rocket 2000 - 2001 Jaguar S-type, nicer inside (to me), bit more staid As new as possible Nissan Primera T-spec As new as possible Honda Accord Executive Wait til Lexus LS430 is in price bracket (about six months now) Some kind of Merc about which I know nothing but there seem to be a few S-class about at that money. -
