  • Old drivers killing pedestrians 26 Oct 2015 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/11270380/Driver-83-mowed-down-mother-when-he-mistook-brake-for-accelerator-in-his-classic-Mercedes.html It seems this year I've read of several fatal incidents involving old f***s mowing down innocent pedestrians in cark parks, in busy towns etc. Each time it irks me to read they all claim they are good drivers, self declared medically fit, and get away with ot by claiming a sneezing, coughing or even unexpectedly "passed out" for a couple of seconds (unfortunate timing).
  • Peugeot 207 - Peugeot 207 Warning Lights-No Speedo-Heavy Steerin 1 Jun 2015 (Forum)
He recommends taking to a Peugeot Dealer and we all know that would be financial suicide and literally at the mercy of being bent over a barrel and the chances are they wouldn't have an exact solution and it would be the start of £1,000's spend before actually finding the problem. Please can anyone help, it seems to be problem caused before amongst other readers and surely someone has eventually had the problem solved first time from a credible mechanic???
  • Volvo XC90 - running costs of a Volvo XC90 15 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Hiya, I am looking to invest in a XC90 as an upgrade to my falling apart Seat Alhambra that I currently ferry my 4 children around in.  I have 3 under 4's and I can currently fit the 3 car seats across the middle row with my teenage daughter in the front meaning I have a huge boot with the 2 extra seats  removed.  This works well for us as we do a lot of motorway miles to visit family some 200 miles away on a fairly regular basis.

  • Audi A4 SE 2.0 TDI Saloon (143hp CVT) - 2011 Reg - Any Red Flags - Audi Extended Warranty - Go-NoGo 15 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Hi All, My Audi is coming to the end of manufacturer's warranty of 3 years (End of this month) It has done about 31215 miles so far and I forecast less than 6000 miles per annum My quote with Audi for an extended warranty comes to £512 (0 Excess, Comprehensive, Without Roadside assistance) But wanted to take a general opinion of other Audi owners you had gone through the situation and know better - Is there any common red flags with Audi A4 2011 2.0 TDI 143 hp CVT (Automatic) that its better to cover with the warranty (For the miles I am forecasting and the miles the car has done so far) So far - My car has been maintained according to the Audi schedule and recently undergone MOT (Mar-2014) and a Full service / Oil change as a part of my service plan Any advice would be great Thanks S
  • Merc A Class - Wobbly Brakes 14 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I'm after some pretty basic advice regarding my cheap as chips old A Class. I picked it up simply as a bargain hack, and for an S plater it's not bad; the arches are still there in all four corners and it's no more wooly to drive than any of these that I've come across (they're handy little tools but I'm no illusion that an early W168 is a 'good car') with just the usual lurching handling and spine breaking suspension characteristics!
  • Ford Mondeo - disposing a scruffy, uninsured car that runs 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
This also means I need to declare SORN on it to avoid trouble - this stuffs up a plan to keep it taxed and buy short-term insurance if anyone is interested. The old S reg Ford Mondeo starts, stops and runs beautifully, but is scruffy on the outside (rust and a dented door from being reversed into), has only 2 weeks MoT, tyres are coming to the end, may need some more welding and has a list of non-essential things that no longer work on it.
  • Windows 7 28 Jan 2014 (Forum)
How do I get it back to normal small size?   And finally (for now!)....in M/S Word Starter 2010, how do I alter the default font style from Calibri (body) to stay as Times New Roman?   For the record....a recent well known consumer magazine report concluded that TNR uses less ink than any other font style.
  • Keeping a vehicle of the public roads - what should I do? 27 Jan 2014 (Ask HJ)
Is it legal to keep a vehicle off the public road with no up-to-date documentation? And if so are the DVLA/Police concerned about it if it is not?

  • No MOT on used cars from an approved dealership? 24 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Hello, I went into an approved Toyota dealership today in Liverpool and was looking at a 2011 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 that took my fancy, apparently took in as a part ex deal. The price of this was lower than I'd seen online (£7995) for a lowish mileage (23k). I was thoroughly intrested and took the car for a test drive, which seemed fine, but did not want purchase it today but I managed to snag a picture of the front page of the V5C registration cert.

  • The effect on speed on economy 17 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Just did Manchester - London - Manchester today.  In the S-Max TDCi auto with six people on board. Interesting at what speed the economy starts to suffer by the effects of aerodymanic drag. I have a rough rule of thumb; the range remaining should always increse for the first half of a tank, if I am driving steadily on the motorway and the previous few hundrd miles was mostly suburban driving.
  • N/A - Car Accident legal proceedings letter 15 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I beleive the insurance company involved on the accident was the same company i am with and on march they sent out a letter to my friend to  claim the outlay of money which is in 1000's. To make matter more complicated he does not live on this country. However he did email them mentioning his current situation and the amount of money he was willing to pay (half the amount). However since then the solicitors have not replied back to this email and now i receive a letter today claiming the same amount of money from me.
  • lambo spyder - company cars and private insurance.directors be wa 6 Jun 2013 (Forum)
(value 6 figures)..quoting a technical defense of me not having any insurable interest on a car owned by my company, and so a void insurance.....this applies even where the company is owned solely by the insured, the car is the asset of the comapny and not the share-holder/partner or in the case of an llp,its member(s).  the battle is not yet lost, as  the insurer provided insurance knowing of the vehicle's corporate ownership and private staus of the insurer, yet failed to disclose that the policy was technically worthlesss as  in the event of a claim the insurer can fall back on this defense (google 'macaura' for details)....and yet ALL car insurance is placed in this fashion,so its back to the fos unless the cheque is forthcoming.
