  The rear also sees the introduction of LED taillights and a more embossed bumper. All Lada Niva Travel cars are equipped with a permanent four-wheel-drive system, while off-road versions get a standard snorkel, off-road tyres and an unpainted plastic body kit to protect the paintwork from damage. The Niva joined Lada's range in 1979, but financial difficulties prompted AvtoVAZ (Lada's parent company) to withdraw from most European markets in 1997. The SUV was rebranded as the Chevrolet Niva between 2003 and 2020 when AvtoVAZ was in a joint venture with General Motors called GM-AvtoVAZ.  Lada is now part of Renault and shares its platform with a number of vehicles from the French carmaker's line-up.

  The organisers of the Geneva Motor Show - where new cars models and concepts are revealed - have cancelled next year's event following a lack of interest from carmakers. Next year's Geneva Motor Show, which was due to take place in March 2021, will not go ahead - with the owners looking to sell the event. The announcement raises questions about the future of motor shows as a whole.

  A restored 1972 Ford Escort RS1600 and a  low-mileage 1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 set new records at auction this month. Both the cars went under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ September sale. The Escord offered collectors the chance to own one of the few remaining genuine homologation specials. Fully restored to an extremely high standard and finished in period correct Le Mans Green paintwork, the immaculate example was bought for £70,875 following a long bidding war.

  Drivers who don't have regular eye tests risk voiding their insurance 7 Nov 2017 (News)
  An accident deemed to be caused by bad vision can lead to prosecution and an insurer terminating your policy, yet one in three drivers don't have regular eye tests. According to a survey by ClickMechanic, an online marketplace for car repairs, many drivers do not abide by the NHS-recommended eye test every two years - putting them and other road users at increased risk. Not only is it unsafe to drive with impaired vision, it can also be reason for insurers to terminate policies, leaving you in the lurch with repair costs.

  Fuel prices rise through September, but cuts are expected soon 3 Oct 2017 (News)
  Both petrol and diesel have gone up 2.5p a litre since the end of June. Filling up a 55-litre family car - like a Ford Focus - with petrol now costs £65.55, whereas in July the same tank of fuel would have cost £62.88. A typical tank of diesel now costs £66.17 - that's £1.34 more than it did at the end of August.

  Autumn Statement 2016: How will it affect you? 23 Nov 2016 (News)
  .  The planned rise in fuel duty has – for the seventh year in succession – been frozen at 57.9p-per-litre. The Government says this £850 expenditure will save the average car driver £130 a year and van driver £350 a year.  A further £390 million will be invested to develop ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs), renewable fuels, and autonomous vehicles.

  Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: New Audi A4 previewed 15 Sep 2015 (News)
  The new A4 will reach UK showrooms in December 2015. The new A4 is longer and wider than the outgoing car, with more head and legroom in the cabin. Available in saloon and Avant bodystyles, the A4 will provide as much as 1510 litres of bootspace with the rear seats down; however, daily running costs are significantly lower, with more Ultra models available with low rolling resistance tyres and smaller wheel sizes.  From launch there will be seven engines – three petrol and four diesels, with the most cost effective powertrain being the 150PS 2.0-litre TDI Ultra that will return an impressive 74.3mpg and emit 99g/km of CO2.  For performance seekers, there will also be S badged models, with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with 354PS and 500Nm of torque, equating to a 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds.

  Marketing material of the time showed the Country Buggy equally at home in the Outback and on safari as it was hauling bales of hay around a farm, reinforcing its image as a practical utility car. The Country Buggy was perhaps at its best in fully-open form, although its canvas roof and roll-down ‘doors’ gave some protection against the elements once the weather turned. Still, who worried about minor things like comfort and dryness when you had a vehicle as rugged and as useful as this?

  The Speed Six evolved in 1929 as a racing version of the 6½ Litre, introduced in 1926. The first car raced as No 1 at Le Mans in 1929 where it won, and returned as ‘Old No 1’ to win again in 1930. A total of 182 Speed Sixes were built between 1929 – 1930 with a variety of body styles and types from several coachbuilders.
