  • Vauxhall ASTRAVAN -2001 - P0335Crankshaft PositionSensorACircuit Malfunction 31 Oct 2012 (Forum)
Hi all.I have an Astravan 2001 and it was running all good until couple weeks ago when the service light( the light with small car) came on for the first time and after that it'll come on again now and then for a while.Last few days is always on and engine performances are not same as before.I took it to a garage today and test it on computer and it came on the error ' P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction ' and the mechanic said I have to change the crankshaft sensor Wich I just did but the light it's still on ,the fault can't be deleted from computer,it just comes back again and engine runes noisy and doesn't pull as before.I read somwhere on forum some1 had a similar problem and after spending lots of time and money, the fault it was the way the sensor it was fitted in,aparently it has an exact precise position.I told the mechanic about this and he said it can only go in a certain position and its correct as he fitted it in.If anyone has had same problem or know anything about this,I would appreciate and consider any advice.Thank you and look forward to your opinions
  • Mazda MX5 Roadster Coupe (2006 - ) - Valuing an MX5.. 16 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I have been considering an MX5 for a few years now, waiting for prices to drop, and now have the opportunity to buy a 2 year old folding hardtop, which is for sale locally from a private seller, as an early wedding present for ourselves. I shall run it as my sole car, covering less than 10k miles pa, whilst the future SWMBO has a company Passat which we normally use at weekends. Being of short arms and deep pockets, spending this kind of money brings me out in a cold sweat.
  • Peugeot 206 - 206 coil pack earth or suppressor snapped 24 Jul 2012 (Forum)
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb270/jaseuk/DSCF1658-1.jpg The garage have said that they didn't do it whilst checking the plugs (or when they changed the plugs last week during a service) and that all it does is stop interference affecting the radio.  It went back to garage as the engine light started flashing with rough/lumpy running when putting any strain on the engine.  Unfortunately the problem had 'fixed itself' by the time I got to the garage and nothing came up on the diagnostic. Does this part 6555.K9, static condenser suppressor have anything to do with earthing the coil pack?
  • VW Golf GL TDI 1996 - VW Golf GL TDI 1996 Cutting Out....Again.. 7 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Now its doing the random cutting out thing again, exactly the same thing, all power go`s,then when I pull over and turn off and leave for a minute, its then starts and runs ok.Had a look at relay 109,but it looks ok,no sign of melting like last time.Dont know if its connected but have also had intermittant flashing glow plug light for months now,VW have  scanned it and got the brake light switch code, replaced with brand new VW brake light switch, still the intermittant flashing glow plug light remains, and still when scanned it gives BLS fault code.

  • Audi A4 (B6) - Audi A4 (B6) ABS light, no fault codes - help! 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
On running a full on diagnostic with VAG.com, brake line pressures all register OK, ABS can be cycled (i.e everything works) when prompted by the diagnostic. Testing the brakes on a slippy carpark, no ABS function is present.
  • Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 2002 1.8 - Engine Management Light 30 Jan 2012 (Forum)
    Apparently I can't just replace the sensor, I have to replace the whole throttle body! As I said earlier, when the Management light is on, the car seems to run OK with no ill affects. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Gary. {edited to use drop down menus that weren't available at the time this post was originally created}
  • Toyota Yaris 2009 D4D - Think I bought a lemon ! 12 Jan 2012 (Forum)
It had a new clutch within 3 months, a new chrome trim for the gear knob cos it was so sharp it cut into my hand, new boot lock cos that jammed, new rear screen cos one of the heated lines broke, 2 turbo mods, a new vac pump, EGR valve cleaned out twice ( cos I asked them to) - found to be clogged solid with carbon. All done on warranty at a local dealership Car is still running badly, chugging like an old bus sometimes when idling and blue smoke coming from the exhaust.Had it's 30K serviced 20 Dec2011 and was chuggingagain the day after. They called it in for new injectors this week and id did feel better but today when waiting at a junction, the car wasagain  enveloped in big clouds of blue smoke for a few minutes.
  • Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI Ghia - £3,500 which hatchback diesel? 16 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I have had loads of MK4 Golfs which have been great but very costly in terms of the regular faults and annoying TEE lights. I am very open minded but took a 1.8 Ford Focus Ghia out for a run and I really liked it, one thing that I have a big problem with is how big cars seem now, the bonnet, seating, overall width, everythig seems so much bigger ( I grew up in MK1 and MK2 Golf GTi's) even the Skoda Fabia for what it is seems bulky, however the older Focus to me, seems like I am driving a car not a safety bubble on wheels.
  • VW Polo - Shuddering Polo! 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
My Veedub Polo, '51 plate 1.4 16v, has something of a shuddering issue when driving on the m-way. Once up to speeds of over about 60ish, running at about 3 - 4k rpm, I get a clear vibration through the steering and front wheels. It comes and goes, varying in severity but definitely worse under harder acceleration. I've previously had to replace the front rubbers due to terminal tearing of the inner side wall.
  • Citroen Berlingo diesel van - citroen berlingo diesel won't start HELP PLEASE 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
hi guys I'm a newbie on here and getting desperate, bought a non turbo berlingo van in bridlington and drove it back to leeds about 60 miles, next day went 3 miles and sods law timing belt went, got another engine and box from a running van that had been hit up the rear, van master tech guys from a ford main dealer fitted new timing belt and the engine and for three weeks have been trying to get it going with no luck, they have had diagnostic machine on and shows no faults, they seem to have tied it down to no fuel, the fuel gets to the pump but is not coming through, there is a minor fault showing a problem with intermittent earth I think from ecu ( but don't quote me i am speaking from memory ) but they have by passed that and still same fault, we have the old fuel pump from othe engine but apparently to swap it you have to remove the engine again, so was trying to determine if there was anything else it could be, any help would be very much appreciated
  • Ford Fiesta - 53' Fiesta zetec problems!!! 18 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Ok my main problem with the car is OVERHEATING.  The car is fine when running at a decent speed, I assume this is because of air cooling the engine? When stationary the fan cuts in but almost immediatly the temp starts to rise. I have had the engine on whilst sat at home and the car gets to normal temp on the display, then fan kicks in, display goes up.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 stalling whilst driving (Automatic) 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I hope someone can help. I have a problem with my 2002 Focus 1.6 automatic. The vehicle has run fine for years been regularly maintained/serviced etc. I find i can start the car fine, but after several minutes of driving, the car completely cuts out. I get no warning lights, it just switches off as if you have turned the key to switch it off, the power steering disappears, and the brakes go heavy.
  • Chrysler Grand Voyager 3.3 Petrol 2000 - Belt came off and water pipe burst - HELP! 15 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I am not mechanically minded but was told that this type of engine does not have a timing belt. Instead this belt is used to run things like power steering, water pump, air conditioning, alternator etc. Is it possible that with the belt coming off, pressure built up because the water pump wasn't working and this would have caused the rubber water pipe to burst?
  • Vauxhall rascal 1993 - Is somthing wrong with my rascal steering/tracking 9 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Obviosly i wasnt expecting it to perfrom amazingly on dual carriage ways but it just seems a little to scary maybe im getting a little to nervous about it. If there is a problem could it be caused by ever of two things 1. the previos owner was running alloys which may not have been apprpriate. 2. he's lowered the suspension at the back with little aluminium blocks which he assures me are easily removed to return it to normal. At present it has it original wheels on and the aluminium blokes are in, i would have presumed such changed would be to improve road handling, im thinking of putting the alloys back on and giving it another go and see if its a little less scary.
  • Ford Mondeo - Mondeo 1999 1.8TD Brake Travel Problem - Weird 22 May 2011 (Forum)
With the front end on stands, the wheels off and the engine on, the brake travel is fine. Put the wheels on, engine running, all is fine. Put the car back down on the deck, and pedal travels an alarming distance, appears to be a couple of inches away from end of travel. Pumping the brakes bring it back to normal.
  • stretched Limo - 24-03-11 Illegal limo first vehicle to be crushed 19 May 2011 (Forum)
The vehicle will be the first to be crushed since VOSA was given powers to carry out this type of enforcement in 2009. Companies running passenger service vehicles (PSV’s) with eight seats or more must have an Operator’s Licence to show that they meet strict rules on safety procedures and financial standing. In 2009 VOSA was given new powers to impound and, in some cases, destroy vehicles which were being used without a licence.
