  • Renault Laguna II - Renault - You couldn't make it up! 13 Sep 2020 (Forum)
So, a call is made to Renault UK to seek more information. 'Yes, there is a problem', Renault UK admit, 'we only got 19 sent from France and there were some three to four hundred on back order in the UK.' The next question asked of Renault UK is when will some more arrive in stock. They don't know, but have no date as yet, so it is likely to be weeks, possibly months.
  • Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 68 road test . . . 28 Oct 2006 (Forum)
or -Two weeks in Provence Every time we have hired with Europcar in France, we?ve been given a Clio. And it was the same this time. But different. For the first time we got the Mark III Clio. And for the first time we got a diesel (in silver, with rather more scrapes than one would expect for a car with 13,702 km on the clock.
  • Renault Clio - Consumer act 2015, refund due to fault 18 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I booked the car back into the garage telling them that the car was still loosing coolant and I have now found out that the coolant has been getting into the engine via the cyilindar head and it's now been sent to France to find the fault.  Due to me only having the car for more than 30 days and under 6 months, I am able to use the consumer act 2015 and reject the car for a full refund since Renault have had there one change to repair the car.
  • Hyundai i20 (2009) - A worthwhile deal? 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
What we do need is a cheap, economical, safe runabout which can be used for the occasional longer, motorway trip and even the odd run down to the south of France. It is important to be able to get my elderly and somewhat arthritic MiL in and out of the passenger seat, and a dog in a similar state in and out of hatchback. Your feedback would be very welcome, thank you.

It's got another month in the UK coming up, followed by two weeks here and then a long drive through France. Any suggestions?
  • You can't sell Betsy ! A Christmas tale... 22 Dec 2008 (Forum)
A similar number of business trips to Germany have been completed without fuss and every summer she has phlegmatically dealt with the bike racks and kitchen sink levels of detritus which we apparently need when camping in the south of France. Most weekends she shrugs off the indignity of being laden with damp people and muddy mountain bikes as we continue our quest to find the gloopiest and steepest places to ride. But, in the summer along came the new pretender, the Signum.

  • Main dealers, do I stand a chance? 2 Mar 2007 (Forum)
They then were quite pushy and sold me a 1.9 TDI, great bodywork i test drove it and thought i could deal with it. However, speaking to my father in law on the sunday, he said that frequent trips to France in a 1.9 tdi would be stupid if I had enough to buy a 2.0 tdi. Had a think about it, and he was right, so i phoned the audi dealer 1, apologised, and said it definately was a 2.0 tdi i was after. I then found a 2.0 tdi 30 miles away at audi main dealer 2, and when i got there the salesman told me that audi main dealer 1 wasn't part of the same group, so i would need my money back.
  • 2004 Megane 1.5 dCi 100 24 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Awesome brakes. 11. CD player and leather steering wheel. 12. Refined at motorway speed - useful in France. Things I don't like: 1. Ride a bit fidgety on those fat 17'' wheels. 2. Auto wipers not sensitive enough in drizzle (apparently fixed on the 2006 model) 3. Changing the front bulbs. Grrr!! 4.A bit more attention need on some internal plastics, the heater controls feel a bit cheap as does the plastic surrounding the gear stick.
  • Comparison information required. - 4x4, AWD, AllGrip, AllRoad, what's the difference? 12 Nov 2015 (Forum)
To be used around the Northumberland area, on tarmac rather than loose surfaced roads. They have lived for some years around Basel, moving between Switzerland, Germany, and France, so are used to using Winter tyres as required, but of course, the weather conditions there are more stable than in the UK, and with the appropriate levels of road management. I'm moderately experienced with the detail of Land Rover 4x4 between 1960 and 2000, doing DIY maintenance, but have missed out on later developments.
  • 2008 Ceed Diesel Estate CRDi 113 - Warranty 20 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I have had not the slightest problem with my Ceed Estate having bought it new in July 08 and had it serviced at WLMG Wooburn Moor nr High Wycombe. It was serviced and MOT'd in late June (53000 miles) prior to driving to the South of France for two weeks. In the hot weather in late July/early August I started to pick up a low whine on accelerating away which then disappeared as speed increased. I kept my window open more than usual and the whine started to get louder and did not go away until I got up to say, 60mph - of course engine noise might have concealed the whine.
  • Government To Announce 80mph Motorway Limit 12 Oct 2011 (Forum)
” According to the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Transport Safety, another campaign group, raising the limit to 80mph would increase motorway casualties by between 5 and 10 per cent. Britain’s speed limits are lower than many other countries in Europe, with France and Italy both imposing a maximum of 81mph, while Germany has no restriction at all. __________________________________________________________________ Obtained from The Telegraph This is being billed as a big victory for Hammond and the Guardian stated he had to fend off concerns from Chris Huhne that the higher limit will 'increase pollution' which is the same Chris Huhne who Essex traffic cops know extremely well.
  • BMW X5 3.0i year 2000 - BMW X5 cylinder head/engine replace. Advice please 20 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I am tempted to have a replacement engine fitted as my research suggests that a head change is long-winded, potentially problematic (stripped head bolts, ..) and may not cure any other problems that engine has suffered? My other problem is that I now live in France! However, I could trailer the car to the UK if relevant, although I have seen a Cardiff company advertising on Ebay who say they collect cars for engine replacement even from mainland Europe... Other options are to try and sell the car as is (shame as in stunning condition in golden brown with tan leather - very unusual) or even break it myself!
  • Paracetamol or a comfy motor? 18 May 2010 (Forum)
It has to help, doesn`t it - not least his music. After two days there, we then blasted back into France, for yet more shopping - really pushing it and I resorted to a couple of paracetamol somewhere on an Autobahn, pushing on 100mph and my back and shoulder muscles protesting. You`re fighting to keep the van on the road at that speed - but at least the engine sounds relaxed.
  • Zeebrugge or Calais 13 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I was inspired to start this thread by Armitage Shanks who posted recently on the current situation in France. Firstly may i say having done both the Hull to Zeebrugge trip and Dover to Calais many times, coming from East Yorkshire i have now favoured the route to Zeebrugge. I take the car, what we do is wait while P&O have their 2 for 1 offers on.
  • Holiday planning - Millau Bridge 19 Mar 2007 (Forum)
A month after returning from Prague, I'll fly back out, take the train to collect wife, babies, and car, attend a family wedding, and then we'll have a week's leisurely drive home via friends near Brussels. In between these two holidays however I will take part in a Boy's Biking Holiday to France; it's this holiday that I'd appreciate some help with, please. This time, for the first time (there have been two great group biking holidays before), none of us will have wives or girlfriends as pillions which (a) makes it possible to more easily rack up the miles, and (b) makes it easier to take tents for camping, so we will, for fun.

THE AXIS PANDEMIC International reaction to Bush's Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as within minutes, France surrendered. Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed to gain triumvirate status in what became a game of geopolitical chairs. Cuba, Sudan, and Serbia said they had formed the Axis of Somewhat Evil, forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the Axis of Occasionally Evil, while Bulgaria, Indonesia and Russia established the Axis of Not So Much Evil Really As Just Generally Disagreeable.
  • Skoda Yeti - My Yeti(s) 25 Mar 2018 (Forum)
I was a little concerned by the lack of ESP though and instead opted to switch for another (new) 2.0 TDi. This was a 4x4 140 BHP TDi "Tour de France". These were special edition models, released at the time of the race. I initially considered a Superb Tour de France, but after driving one realised they are a bit of a bargeand don't drive especially well (compared to the Yeti).
