  I see the recommended oil for my son's Mazda 6 diesel is Dexelia - but is there an equivalent? I dare say it costs one arm and one leg from a main dealer so I'm looking for a better priced equivalent. Any ideas? Thanks Robin the Technician

  Hi  I recently posted about the reliability of the Honda Jazz Auto and people suggested the post 2011 models are the best option. I've also seen that Mazda 2 has been suggest on many posts as a good alternative to the Jazz. Has anyone got any advice on the Mazda 2 automatic please? Should I be looking for a particular model from a particular year or is it all much of a muchness.

  Previously on this forum I got excellent information when my diesel engine in my mazda 6 blew up after 6 months. Anyway, the pain continues. The steering rack has started leaking. From what I've been told it has to be replaced as a unit. Mazda's price for the part ?1,600 + VAT in a Irish dealer.

  Took the (out of warranty) car to my local garage last week and asked a mechanic to drive it, as I was convinced there was a problem. He confirmed this. The car has done 34,000 miles.  Went back to Watford Mazda who gave it the onceover again, accepted that there was a problem and contacted Mazda UK. Diagnosis... it needs a new gearbox. I was expecting the usual hassle/argument.... but no.  Mazda UK will replace the gearbox next week under warranty, at no charge.

  Apparently even the Mazda 3 suffers from this, and particulalry viciously in the US and Canada. Wonder whether Mazda as a company has poor manufacturing practices, in this regard? I also notice that Mazda had a 6 year corrosion guarantee on the Mazda 6 till 2005, then increased it to 12 years from 2006.

  I have 2008 mazda 6 sport,I have a problem with the boot opening by itself when i am driving or parked. has anybody else had this problem, As the dealer says they have not had this problem before, they are going to replace the lock first, to see if this corrects the problem,any ideas???
