• VW Caravelle TDi battery light 6 Jul 2003 (Forum)
  sometimes after starting up the battery light on my 7 month old caravelle glows very faintly for about a minute (even when driving). I've had the car for a month and during that time have had a towbar fitted. Unfortunately, as the wife uses it most of the time I do not know if the problem was there before fitting.

  Had a flat battery last night which isn't unusual for a second hand car which has been sitting on a forecourt up until last weekend (and has sat unmoved during the last very cold week). On the basis that it starts again after the short run I gave it after a jump, what distance do I need to travel for it to be fully charged.

  Please could someone help me on this annoying problem? Cavalier Mk3 SRi G plate Replaced the battery, and now the car will not run. It turns over ok, but seems not to fire?, replaced the air box, there is nice atomised fuel on all four cylinders excellent sparks. It usually started first time every time, replaced ECU and ignition relay, fuel pump working fine.

  I phoned the dealership and they said it was fine. The same thing happened today and this time I have been told by the dealership that the battery is now fully dead and will not hold a charge. They say I need to pay for a new one at a cost to me of £401.54. My question is, should the main LR dealership have looked after my battery for the three months it was with them and is it their fault my battery has failed.

  The earth is OK too with no resistance between the earth terminal and body or engine. Cranking for 15 - 20 secs got the volts dropping to just over 9v and you could hear the battery starting to die. So I'm thinking the battery is on the way out. It's seven years old so it is about that time.   The thing is, throughout all of the above, the little indicator has shown green - "Charge OK".

  Hello, I'm posting because I've reached the end of my tether with my 02 1.8 Focus. In the last month I've changed the battery, had 2 new alternators and had a wiring loom replaced. When I'm starting it from cold, revs will drop and it will cut out with the battery light on unless I sit for a couple of mins with my foot on the accelerator.

  The battery drained on my son's car over a few hours a couple of nights ago, he charged the battery and had no problems till tonight when returning from a short trip the engine wouldn't turn off even with key removed!.

  Got kids in and then tried to start it. Turned over but would not go. Managed to jump start it later and checked battery voltage which was 14.4V whilst running, so believe alternator is OK.

  A week ago I couldn't start my car because the battery was dead - Hubby took it out and charged it and it was fine. This afternoon I couldn't start my car again (hadn't used it for 3 or 4 days) (Skoda Favorit, 1995) - sounded pretty much like a dead battery again.

  I'm experiencing a strange electrical problem with my Golf MK3 (1995 Reg) and could do with some pointers... The car was left unused for a while recently and didn't quite have enough battery to start up. It was just about turning over but wouldn't start. All other electrical features were sluggish but functioning. I took the battery out and recharged it fully. Now when I reconnect the battery, the car won't turn over at all and the hazard lights come on intermittently, either periodically or when something is activated i.e. electric windows.

  If not, would anyone recommend garages/mechanics in the Bedford area with experience of diagnostics on Seats or similar?  If the battery needs replacing then I'd buy myself and get someone to fit it either way. As far as i can tell, the battery is the original, car has done 65k miles. Btw, Im not 100% sure my charger is up to the job on the 720A battery so I'm looking to buy a new charger, Ctek MXS 5.0 is most likely.

  When car started I made my journey home via the motorway  and and when got home ii switched the engine off and measured the battery voltage being 12.6v. This morning I measured the battery terminal voltage being 12.35v on my Fluke DVM. Seems quite low but started ok.  As the car is still under warranty, I called the dealer and asked them to do a test on the battery but was told that I need to book in next month as they are too busy.

  Also when I just turn ignition on the is a relay (i think) that is clicking away like mad (possibly trying to power up the fuel pump) Not sure but im guessing at that. I assume relay may be doing that due to battery being flat. I think the battery is knackered but would like input off anyone out there who has any ideas? Im getting a new battery in morning but dont want to pay out 80 quid if its not the solution.

  My son has a 2000 1.2 Fiat Punto which I purchased from a relative. Low mileage and no problems until recently. The battery keeps going flat after just a couple of days lack of use. I have had a new battery fitted and even had a mechanic pal look at it who couldn't find a problem. I read a similar problem on this site which suggested it might be the boot light staying on so I removed the bulb and for a week (driving it every other day or so) all was well so I thought I had solved the problem.

  That suggests a dead/shorted cell to me, but I don't know why that would manifest itself in this fashion. I've resigned myself to replacing the battery, but any explanatory thoughts would be gratefully received.

  Good evening. My elderly husband is no longer able to lift and remove his lucas battery from his van. I am trying to find if there is some sort of winch of a table top size rather than a floor standing one that could be adapted to help him to lift it in and out of the engine bay onto a table below.

  Hello, I have identified f8 20A fuse as the culprit circuit/s causing parasitic drain of battery to the tune of 1.5A. Having pulled it the immediate problem is solved but as the radio and display are also through this I need to find out how to permanently repair the problem.im having difficulty finding wiring diagram on the Internet.
