Cheap Zafira 10 May 2003 (Forum)
The whole tranaction was carried out totally efficiently and we are delighted to have a car at £1400 less than Vauxahlls "special" internet price. A main dealer in London told us that it must be an import at that price. The dealers here are asking 9k for 3 year old ones !! No connection with B4C but have not seen a deal anywhere near this elsewhere just a very happy customer PS Honest John on your list of brokers today no mention of Vauxhalls under B4C! -
Driving instructors 6 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Garrison's comment about being taught to apply the brake progressively when doing an emergency stop made me think about my driving instructor... Even as a beginner, he stressed the importance of watching far ahead and anticipating threats in the distance as well as up close. That's not really in the driving test, and a lot of people don't seem to grasp that until they become more experienced. -
BMW 330i cold starting problem 27 Feb 2003 (Forum)
My neighbour has got a just-out-of-warranty imported Y-reg BMW 330i with an intermittent cold start problem. He has owned the car from new. The car will start from hot OK, but cold starts are very difficult, but it will eventually start. Car has 15,000 miles and has been at the BMW franchised dealer for a week..they have changed the fuel pump but still the problem is there. -
Fire Brigade Strike II 18 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I am particularly not keen on having one so emotionally charged and potentially full of political argument. However, clearly it is important to people and it does have ramifications for all of us, including within our motoring lives. Given that, and given that the original thread is now an unmanageable 100 posts, here is volume 2. -
Upto 70% off UK new car list prices 26 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Based on basic tax rates and national insurance, that means that a tax payer would have to earn around £22,000 to buy the car, or a year's average pay. I cannot understand this, why buy new?, imported or other wise? Alex -
Sat Telegraph - Poor article on child car seats 4 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Well I thought so. Most important thing is to ensure that the seat fits the car properly - everything else is secondary. This was buried at the bottom of the article and with no advice on how to check that it is fitted properly. -
Danish Toyota 28 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Readers who are looking at importation of a Toyota from Denmark might be interested to contact "Henrik Nielsen" . This seems to be close to one of the budget airline's Danish airport at Arhus. I was interested in an Avensis Verso at the time and contacted several European Toyota dealers by post. -
Leather Seats 4 Sep 2001 (Forum)
It only costs me an extra fiver a month on my insurance! Thing is, I've never had a car with leather seats before but I know it's important to look after them. What's the best 'food' for them and how often should you nourish them? I know there was a thread somewhere but I can't find it. Could anyone refresh my sieve-like memory? -
V.I.N. 1 Jun 2001 (Forum)
We are going to collect this week, a new VW Golf 1.6SE which has been imported from Sweden. Whilst researching possible sources and pitfalls, it came to light that some VW's are manufactured in South Africa and are exported to Europe and it has been suggested that they are of inferior quality. -

remould tyres 9 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I read a couple of years ago about how good remoulds were. Honest John told me it wasn't his column. anyway I believed it. apparently the Germans import lots of them from British Manufacturer Colway of Durham and fit them to high performance cars. This is because they are not allowed to repair punctures. I wonder if anyone else had tried to buy them and met tyre fitters telling me such action was dangerous folly or they are not made in many sizes which is untrue. -
Volvo - Car registration 23 May 2022 (Forum)
I have done something stupid and didn't send the car registration certificate off after buying a car years ago because the previous keeper hadn't signed their section and I couldn't get hold of them after. I honestly didn't fully realise the importance of this as I thought the car being taxed and insured was fine. I've been using the new keepers slip to tax the car and never really thought it was an issue until looking into it again. From what I've read, at the very minimum, I face a fine. -
Samsung car anyone? 2 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Following the Japanese import thread, i found myself on the japanese sites and found these. Looks like rebadged Nissans but still cool. https://www.sbtjapan.com/used-cars/?make=samsung&steering=all&type=0&sub_body_type=0&drive=0&cc_f=0&cc_t=0&mile_f=0&mile_t=0&trans=0&savel=0&saveu=0&fuel=0&color=0&bodyLength=0&loadClass=0&engineType=0&location=0&port=0&search_box=1&locationIds=0&d_country=2&d_port=65&ship_type=0&FreightChk=yes¤cy=2&inspection=no&insurance=1#listbox Tempted? -

Hyundai i30 - Spare Korea 14 Apr 2021 (Forum)
This is sourcing the part from Korea and shipping it to the UK which is significantly cheaper even if I've got to pay some import charges. Anyone any experience of Spare Korea, it seems legitimate but thought worth asking on here first. -
any - ?? Seven seats + petrol + automatic, under £ 25 Jul 2020 (Forum)
(I am not bothering to consider the Zafira.) Otherwise it's only a Mitsubishi Grandis which is rather old, or indeed an imported Honda, like an Odyssey (which drives very well.) She wants something roomy but not enormous, ie. not a Previa/Estima or similar. Parking sensors/camera are a must! Any thoughts advice or warnings?? -
VIVA THRIVE k*** Smackdown! 1 Jun 2019 (Forum)
viva thrive k*** from the website of the manufacturers. It is important that you buy the product from their original website and not the third party seller. When you get from other sources, there is a chance of fraud and you might end up with the fake product. Place your order in the website and the product will be shipped to you after you have paid for it. -
Civic 1.8 v Auris HSD - Utterly Undecided 26 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I have driven them and both have their pros/cons so I am paralyzed by indecision and would like readers' votes. The most important thing for me is complete and utter reliability. Thank you. -
Nissan Figaro - opinions/experiences? 15 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Does anyone have any thoughs or has anyone owned one? and what should i look for? Also were they all jap cars and then been imported over the years or were they sold here as well? Seriously considering buying one to run for a couple of years and then go for a TF when the prices are a little bit lower. -
Audi A4 - Tyres (Manufacturer rated or not ?) 2 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Having looked on P/h and reviews elsewhere they seem to be well thought of and good value for money (An important consideration these days with the costs of everything rising !!) Evo seem to rate them highly on an S4!!! and I believe that Avon's are factory fitted to Aston Martins. I rang Camskill only to be told that I could be in danger of having an insurance claim rejected if I didn't get 'AO' rated tyres.
