Speedo broken/poor performance/h. gasket 20 Apr 2003 (Forum)
His right foot is heavy but not made of lead. Finally I was a passenger in said Mondeo the other day when my friend\'s friend\'s (!) Punto blew its head gasket. He drives like a fool, stereotypical boy racer. He blasts it from cold and uses cheap oil. However the gasket blew at 80 on the motorway shortly after he had been nudging 100. -
E class Merc W211 vs BMW 5 E39 / E60 28 Aug 2002 (Forum)
In last weeks Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson says of the new E class: "..... I guess that?s why the BMW 5-series, now in its sixth and final year on sale, is still the car to beat. There?s a sense, as you turn the wheel, that you really are part of some unholy Darth Vader-style appliance between man and machine. ...... ...... -
My 1st month, 3300 miles, with an S-Max 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
t come across a steep hill. Ride and Handling Simply a revelation!!! For a big car, this really dances. OK, it?s FWD rather than RWD but this is one entertaining car. It would be good even if it was a saloon, the fact it?s an MPV ? that?s a neat trick Ford have pulled off. It you like to have fun in the twisties, I? -
Protection from rear impacts 13 Sep 2007 (Forum)
As Clarkson observes, ?Speed never killed anybody. It?s the abrupt stop that does for you.? In other words, it?s all very well having a rigid passenger cell, but surely there?s little substitute for plain old distance (and therefore time) between point of contact and point of coming to rest? -
ford focus - Particles, Catalitic converters, DPF's, Diesel??? 9 Jul 2011 (Forum)
In an article I read some time ago about particles, it said that particles are not all one size pm10's. They come in all sizes from PM1's upwards. It seems that the Eu has picked on PM10's as they are the most common size produced by diesels and what triggered that I imagine was someone seeing an old diesel engine under load pumping out clouds of black smoke. -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 2003 PD130 owner's report 24 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I?ve had my Passat B5.5 PD130 sport (6-speed manual) for 5 years and 62,000 miles, and it?s making way for a new Mondeo. For what it?s worth, here?s my impressions and experience of ownership. First, I didn?t really run it in, I just drove it. Even keeping below 3K rpm, you?re still moving quite nicely. -
Pre-reg Honda Civic 9 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Am toying with the idea of replacing one of the family Puntos with a pre-reg Honda Civic that has caught my eye on the "approved used" bit of Honda?s website. Having checked the Car-by-Car Breakdown on here, I feel (as a FIAT owner of some years' standing) that I could probably cope with the things mentioned in "What's Bad"! The model in question is a Civic 1.6 Inspire S, which as far as I can make out consists of an '03 MY 1.6 S with various bits added from the SE spec (air-con, alloys etc.) -
Renault Clio - Steel rims repair - will this pass? 2 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Looks like he's made a mess of it, the edge of the rim is no longer bent, but its a bit jaggered and definitely not perfectly straight. Expecting at least a minor, will this pass at all? Pics: https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ajxbph3PVICGgYJc5FBnEZ__QFdO2w https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ajxbph3PVICGgYJePr360UVxv9f1ag -

Ford Focus - turbo problems 21 Aug 2011 (Forum)
my 1.8 diesel focus 56 plate just started making like a wooshing noise when i rev the car. here,s how it goes. it sounds like its coming from the air vents inside the car when driving. this only happens when we rev the car hard and the turbo is working. i thought maybe a ppipe had come off on the induction side of things but doesnt seem to have. any idea,s folks please. -
