Skoda Octavia - Octavia engine management light staying on 31 Oct 2015 (Forum)
However in the last few days the engine management light has come on and has stayed on. The car continues to run very well despite this, no loss of power or any increase in fuel consumption. His mechanic has checked it out and says it is a faulty sensor and is not going to cause problems. He did replace a sensor for the radiator fan and the light went out but came on again a short while later and has stayed on since My nephew trusts the garage a lot as he has used them for years and they do all his servicing and MOTS. -
Volkswagen Golf V TDI - VW MK5 Golf Won't Start! 9 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Hi, I own a 2005 MK5 Golf 1.9TDI (105) on Saturday it was parked on the path and my dad started it to bring it into the driveway, anyway we were having a look at the heating as it would only work on number 4 (already bought and put in two heater resistors and still wouldn't work) we were advised by a mechanic to have a look at the fan as it may have become clogged. After having a look to no avail we tried to start the car and now it wont run. The car initially starts but immediately cuts out, any suggestions as to what it could be? I've had a look at online forums but can't get anything specific to focus on, also I may add that the dash is completely out, the lights won't come on at all, the headlights, interior lights, radio etc still work though. -
Mercedes B200 CDi - Mercedes B200 CDI Electrical faults 30 Sep 2015 (Forum)
By switching off engine and back on it seems to clear fault. I have also started getting other warnings now "brake lamp, drive to workshop", "Run flat indicator, Un-available", "ESP faulty, visit workshop" and another problem on start up yesterday, a Red "BRAKE" warning and wouldn't let me select a gear, again on switching on and off it cleared. -
any - modern cars 28 Aug 2015 (Forum)
She who must has just asked the question again...why?..quote ''all i want the thing to do is start and keep running, with a key not this push button rubbish'' Music to my shell likes, she's even more in her love with her venerable Outback because it just does everything she asks with no fuss simply. -
Testing hand brakes 23 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I test my handbrake daily by applying it to control speed while running down the, fairly steep, driveway. It also helps to keep the rear discs clean. Occasionally I do that on steep hills while I’m queuing in traffic. -

Renault Clio II - Recommendations for bluetooth OBD2 port reader 20 Mar 2015 (Forum)
I've got an issue with my Mk2 Clio misfiring/running uneven when starting from cold. I've taken it to a garage a few times but they've not been able to find any fault code so either the fault isn't generating a code or other codes have pushed the fault codes out of the ECU's memory (I've left it overnight once but the temperature the following moring was too warm for the fault to show up). -
Suzuki Alto - Oil Pump Seized? 9 Mar 2015 (Forum)
If so how would I check the oil pump? The engine doesn't seem any noisier than normal. The engine was running ok before the car was left standing. I was thinking it could just be a fauulty oil pressure switch but the hesitation/misfires makes me think there might actually be low oil pressure. Is it worth changing the spark plugs to see if this cures the misfires? -
Speeding points in 2012 12 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I've only just realised I didn't tell them and am now concerned over what might happen. They are due to run out on 13/4/15 (if I am right they come off the licence in 3 years). Can anyone advise? Thank you. It's ok I think I'm loosing my mind. -
Vauxhall Zafira CDTI1.9 - Intermittent AC/Heater problems 17 Dec 2014 (Forum)
I could be driving for a while before it starts to blow. I spoke to my mechanic who recommended I get Vauxhall to run a diagnostic, they have now told me they need to replace the heater motor (£350) and resistor (£25) plus labour (£120). I appreciate I know nothing about mechanics, but is there any chance the motor could be fine if it can blow when it wants to and the problem may just be the resistor? -
Ford Grand Tourneo Connect - Bonnet lock handle 8 Sep 2014 (Forum)
A fellow camper on this site flattened the battery on his new Tourneo by running his fridge overnight on 12V. He opened the driver's door with the key and the rear hatch, however the passenger door and the sliding doors remained electronically locked. Obviously he needed to get under the bonnet to jumpstart the car but the bonnet locking handle is built-in to the passenger doorframe and therefore inaccessible when the door is shut. -
ford fiesta 2003 - 1.3 - Can any of you geniuses help? 29 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Changed the water pump etc so the only thing my mechanic can think is that the head gasket is on the wrong way round, is that possible? but it is not p***ing oil or anything like that, in fact it runs ok (not like we have been out in it, other than to take it for its MOT which it passed) the problem is that the water tank gets hot and starts bubbling over, like i said checked all the pipes, flushed it with a hose pipe etc but its like there is not enough pressure to send the water round. we are currently stripping down and checking the head gasket again but was wandering if anyone has had this problem before or knows of a solution :-) Many Thanks -
2007 Chevrolet Kalos 1.4L 16v. - Sticky exhaust valves. 21 Aug 2014 (Forum)
The harder I try to drive it the more severe the problem becomes, until after a few minutes it'll gradually clear and then run perfectly fine again. Sometimes the fault code P0300, random multiple misfire will be generated. However, if I start it from cold and allow it to idle for three or four minutes before driving away the fault will generally not occur. -
2003 nissan almera - starting problem 26 Jul 2014 (Forum)
It keeps trying and takes 15 mins to get started. You have to let it tick over for 5 to 10 mins and then it runs fine. If it stands again for more than an hour and a half you go through the same procedure again although it doesnot take as long. It sounds like its missing and put puts a few times. It was put on to the computer and it came up as a cam sensor which i had fitted but it has not solved the problem. -
Talbot Peugeot J5 - Talbot/Peugeot J5 Campervan Gearbox removal 24 Jul 2014 (Forum)
The vehicle has the auxillary driver pulley on the n/s (drivers) of the engine. There is a shaft that runs out of the engine and through the top of the bellhousing for the gearbox which is supported by a bearing bracket. I have removed all driveshafts, starter, bell housing bolts ect. The only thing holding the gearbox on is this shaft from the engine. -
Audi TT - car showing as an insurance marker stolen 13 Jul 2014 (Forum)
One of my friends has purchased the above 10 year old vehicle and now has run a check and a marker has come up as insurance marker stolen. The marker is from over two years ago and when she has contacted the person that she bought the car from he said that when he bought the car from the previous owner it was declared to him that it had been taken with the keys but returned by the police. -

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate - Car pulling to the left 10 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Booked it into the dealer last week where they carried out the tracking/wheel alignment and gave declared that the car runs perfectly straight. Charged me £132. Drove the car home and exactly the same pulling to the left problem. Rang the dealer, suggested that I bring the car back in to try it. Service manager took the car out and declared that all c classes pull to the left (and he has driven loads of them!) -
Vauxhall Astra - Renewal of Tax Disc 2 Jun 2014 (Forum)
How Google, DVLA & the current Govenment cannot between them stop this, what looks like a very straightforward problem reoccuring is beyond my comprehension. There is not much hope of the country being run in a fit & proper manner if this sort of behaviour is condoned! -
