  Hi John, I have a 1.9D VW Polo and its driving me mad. I have to jump start it everytime I use it . I had a new battery in June last year and have been told the battery is ok. The altenator is charging so after a 150 mile run, you would think it would be ok the next day, but its not.

  (I mean the six or so separate pivots that connect the arm parts together). I find that if they freeze in the parked position while driving, the blade doesn't contact the glass across the sweep because the curvature varies. Eventually I can get enough screenwash on them to free up but it wastes a lot of fluid. I don't think this is a job for WD40.

  I have relatively new tyres so its not a slow puncture and it effects nearly all tyres. I park on a busy road where there is a fairly steep camber. I dont drive the car very much so it is parked there most of the time. Is there any chance that could be the cause?

  My husband will be out of action due to illness for a non-specified length of time and I'm wondering what to do about his car. At the moment I'm taking it for a drive every couple of weeks (a round trip of about 15 miles on an A road) making sure that I do a few of those miles at a reasonably high speed - there is no rev counter. Is this too much, not enough or what?

  rear o/s wheel locking, so car cannot move forwards or backwards. handbrake lever is off. was parked on drive last friday and discovered this on monday, working ok before. could it be that the rear brake o/s shoes are stuck as a result of the handbrake cable or other cause ?

  However, a few miles down the road it changes to a regulatory red-ringed 60 sign.  Does this mean that once I've passed the 60 sign I can drive at 60 in my transit van where I'd normally be restricted to 50 where the 'nationals' applied??

  I remember a few years ago reading about a car & its designer. The car was a sporty job not a common name. Im pretty sure the designer said ''cars are for driving not smoking''. Could it have been a De-lorean. I think some manufacturers nowadays give a choice of with or with out the lighter and ash tray (smokers pack). But does anyone know of a manufacturer who has built with no choice, you dont get the lighter or ashtray.

  hi can anybody help me i have a 2.0 red top i was driveing away when she just cut out on me and now want start it turns over but want fire there is fuel going through but no spark my hunsh is that its the distributor does any body now how mush thats going two set me back  and if it aint that any ideas thanks

  hi have a 1998 grand voyager 3.3 auto that keeps coming out of gear when i stop then when you try to drive off it just revs then jumps into gear but jumps out again when i stop again i have changed the gearbox fluid with atf4 and new filters as chrysler says to do  but no luck there any ideas thanks

  Hello, I went to test drive a 2005 BMW 1 Series yesterday and noticed at low speeds when shifting down (i.e. to 2nd gear to take a corner) I could feel some vibration in my foot through the clutch pedal when it was fully depressed.

  I DRIVE A 2.2 JAGUAR X TYPE  06 REG. ON FIRST START UP IN THE MORNING THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT FLASHES IF I STOP AND RESTART IT CLEARS ONLY TO RETURN ON FULL THROTTLE WITH LOSS OF POWER GOING INTO LIMP HOME MODE.

  Hi, Im having trouble getting my cd player to work, it happened when i was driving the other day, i skipped a song on my ipod then it stopped working and i could smell burning. I have checked every fuse and had the cd player out to check connections/fuse etc, does anybody have any idea what could of happened before i invest in a new cd player.

  My car's indicators have stopped working. I live inFrance and drive a RHD vehicle which is fitted with a standard alarm system (unlike the LHD version). My French garagist mechanic can't find a way to disarm the alarm system in order to replace the flasher unit.

  since coming back from MOT i have noticed my engine managment and coolant lights stay on when ignition is on but go off when engine started, neither come back on when driving and engine temp is normal (has always sat about 86 Deg) nothing else is effected to my knowledge. i dont trust the garage so dont want to take it back there

  I thought that I should put the new tyres on the front and switch the existing front tyres (which have plenty tread)  on to the rear. The car being a front wheel drive I always thought that the tyres with most tread should be on the front. However I have been informed that I should fit the new tyres on the rear. I'm confused could anybody enlighten me.

  my 1.8 diesel focus 56 plate just started making like a wooshing noise when i rev the car. here,s how it goes. it sounds like its coming from the air vents inside the car when driving. this only happens when we rev the car hard and the turbo is working.  i thought maybe a ppipe had come off on the induction side of things but doesnt seem to have. any idea,s folks please.

  Help Please. At the car comes to the first stop at the end of a long(ish) drive at high speeds (60mph +) there is a noticeable smell of diesel in thecabin which then disappears once you are on the move again. The engine shows no signs of malfunction when the smell 'appears' however I'm worried that something isn't right.

  Hi Never though I'd say it but we are going to test drive a Skoda....the Yeti 4x4. Assuming it's OK and we decide to go ahead, I'm not sure about the best choice of engine. The 100 or 140 2 litre diesels seem like the best bet but I know HJ goes on about the problems with the particulate filters in modern diesels.

  1995 2.0 Ecotec, 167,000 miles. This a.m. it wouldn't easily start after driving for 3 miles then waiting for 5 minutes, also when waiting at junctions the engine has a tendency to run slower and slower then stop (seems to re-start OK, mostly, occarional repeated attempts needed).
