  • Extra driver training 'could help keep workers safe' 27 Nov 2008 (News)
The training is designed to improve drivers' vehicle control, their capability in assessing road risks and their handling expertise. Peter O'Halloran from Mercedes-Benz World said: "Driving is potentially one of the most dangerous things we do and rime pressures, meetings and deadlines can be especially distracting when driving for work." Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz World announced plans to help reduce the number of road deaths caused by crashes involving young drivers.

  • British drivers 'may benefit' from speed camera locators 3 Sep 2008 (News)
However, James Flynn of RoadPilot asserted that motorists need to take care on the roads, as speeding offences could lead to penalty points on a driving license, which may result in higher car insurance premiums. Mr Flynn explained that an in-car speed camera locator may be one way to help cut down on the number of motorists who drive too fast - and may help them to avoid fines and penalties.

  • Sporty New Omega, From £19,995 16 Aug 2001 (News)
Already a good car to drive, Vauxhall's Omega range gets a useful newcomer by combining the sporty MV6 chassis with the smaller 144bhp 2.2 litre chain-cam four cylinder engine also seen in the VX220. The body sits around 15mm lower than a standard Omega on uprated spring and shock absorber settings, complemented by 17 inch alloy wheels and ultra low profile Michelin 235/45 R17 tyres.
  • July Sale Date for Rover 75 Tourer 29 May 2001 (News)
For company car drivers, C02 ratings range from 163 grams per kilometer for the 2.0 Diesel to 255 grams per kilometer for the 2.5 KV6 automatic. I can report that the 177bhp 2.5 litre KV6 manual drives well and is very comfortable. It's no sports car, but it's no slouch either and is easily capable of reaching almost twice the UK national speed limit when Touring in Germany. More at www.rovercars.com
  • Skoda celebrates 20 years of vRS 16 Aug 2021 (News)
The MK3 Octavia vRS' steering is horrible – although the DSG gearbox is now brilliantly quick – while the diesel MK4 drives like a strangled petrol with none of the intoxicating mid-range wallop that made the MK1 Fabia vRS such a tantalising proposition. Our final drive of the road-going fleet is in the current Octavia vRS iV hybrid, which can travel for 30 miles on electricity alone but provides little of the fun of the models that preceded it.
  • Happy Birthday: MG Z cars 10 May 2016 (News)
The 75-based ZT had an already good car as a starting point, and in less subtle MG form was a satisfying drive, especially in V6 form (though there was a diesel to keep the company car boys happy). The 25-based ZR was, in many ways, the poor relation, but even so it was still a hoot to drive – a fact borne out by the fact that, in MG Rover’s final full year of sales, it had become the brand’s best-selling model, and had carved out a niche with younger buyers.
  • Ferrari FF to make UK public debut at Goodwood 16 Jun 2011 (News)
The FF ushers in an entirely new GT sports car concept and represents not so much an evolution as a true revolution with the Prancing Horse’s first ever four-wheel drive system. The FF is the first road car to take drive to the front wheels from the front of the crankshaft, rather than through a separate transfer case. The innovative and patented 4RM system weighs 50 per cent less than a conventional four-wheel drive system and ensures perfect weight distribution (47:53) for the optimum driving performance that clients expect from a Ferrari, even for a Grand Tourer with four seats.
  • Hidden Heroes: Honda Accord Type R 18 Jan 2019 (News)
A limited slip diff and razor-sharp steering mean it feels reassured through the twisty bits, while it grips tenaciously, even on slippery roads. It’s a truly rewarding car to drive, but then it’s easy to forget that the standard Accord on which it was based was a decent enough steer of its own, um, accord.  As a Hidden Hero, then, the Accord Type R is a Q-car par excellence, and even better, it represents astonishing value for money.
