BMC 'A' Series SU carburettor needle 26 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The carb is from a 1275 and has a DZ needle and (amazingly?) appears to run quite well on the 998, but it can't be optimum. I'm sure some 998's used the 1 1/2 inch SU, but I can't find the needle information anywhere. JS -

2007 Car of the Year 10 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Shall we 'the real experts' have a vote before then and give a reason why. Citroën C4 Picasso, Fiat Grande Punto, Ford S-Max, Honda Civic, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 207, Skoda Roomster and Volvo C30. As much as I would like to say Civic I think the S max should win it for combining practicality and driving experience. -

Leaking Seat Leon 10 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I have just noticed a considerable amount of water that has leaked into the car. It stretches from under the carpet of the front left passenger?s seat to the back seat. The door seals seem ok and the sunroofs not leaking. I can?t find any other place the water?s getting in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. -
The Chinese are coming Big Style !! 17 Mar 2006 (Forum)
There is a report in today`s Autocar, that one of China`s leading manufacturers Chery is planning to launch a range of quality vehicles, priced at 30% below their Western equivalents, into the European market from 2008. If the price was`nt enough concern for European manufacturers, they are also promising 100,000 mile / 10 year warranties. -

Peugeot 306 - Comfort? 4 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Just been looking at 306's ('93 - '01 model). There's SEATS's about at the moment, and I quite like the 306's. So, what are they like? I'm just over 6ft, and I've heard the driving position is a bit dodgy and the pedals are at funny position...can anyone advise? -
Diesel pinking - Land Cruiser 4.2TD 24 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I\'ve got a Land Cruiser with a 4.2TD (direct injection). When you toe it, it sounds like it\'s pinking, and as soon as you back off, it stops. They\'ve had big end problems with these, but I replaced all the shells last year. It\'s possible one of these has gone bad or spun, but before I drop the sump again, has anyone any other ideas? -
Citroen AX steering 7 Mar 2005 (Forum)
The car is OK but the steering is incredibly heavy. So far all I?ve done is to check the tyre preasures and note that there?s no uneven wear. Do these small light cars without power steering have heavy steering as normal? As far as I know it?s never had an accident. Keep upright Chris -
Lorry wheels in the air 8 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I patiently started to explain that they can be engaged or dis-engaged, and that they are engaged when the lorry is loaded to give better grip & traction. I've convinced myself (and Mrs S) that that is the reason, but is it, really? -
The Bear Trap 11 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Having read Fernblatt`s very interesting website "The Oil Bible", I was wondering if any of the B.R`s have used the re-usable magnetic collar called "The Bear Trap", that is fitted to the outside of the standard through-flow engine oil filter, to remove fine metallic particles. -
Citroen C5 rear axle problems 15 Jan 2004 (Forum)
My 2 year old C5 1.9 HDI Hatchback has uneven wear on the rear tyres. they are ok on the outside but down to 1.6 mm on the inside. My franchise garage says that this is caused by deformed rear axle(s) and is a known problem, they have asked Citroen to approve replacement of the axle(s) under warranty and also for Citroen to cover the cost of 2 new tyres. Does anyone know about this problem ? CITMAD -
Land Rover Discovery - Your opinion 7 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Just seen an ad for a Discovery V8, 3-door, 1990, 5-speed, 110K. I\'ve read they can be a bag of nails & nothing but problems. If it\'s got this far, it can\'t be that bad. It also has a gas conversion. Any coments, experiences (good or bad!)would be welcome. I\'ve also read HJ\'s breakdown. All for £3000. Too much, too little? -
Fun Driving 26 Aug 2003 (Forum)
OK, I\'m as guilty as the rest when it comes to whingeing about the state of the roads, speed cameras, traffic calming (ha!), etc, etc, etc & there\'s no water in the taps, no water in the pool & only a pink fluffy diced lizard in the bidet! But there\'s still loads of fun to be had out there. Just been camping near Edinburgh. Get off the main routes & you\'ll find miles of traffic free roads to enjoy.
