  • Renault Megane II - Periodic start up problems 24 Dec 2011 (Forum)
To actually get the car going I need to start it several times, or gun the engine hard after which it idles and runs normally. The problem seems more prevalent during damp weather, but this occurred this morning (glorious day) and I suspect the problem is becoming more frequent/worse. Having said that the problem does not occur every day, or each time it it started.

  • Swapping two seats for four (or five) 24 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Afternoon folks, Found out a few weeks back that the wife and I are going to leave our mark on the world in June in the form of a little one in June next year... Fortunately the lease on our Smart ForTwo runs out in March so obviously time to swap "fun" with practicality. So I need advice on recomended cars please. Will need: - 5 doors - back seats capable of taking baby seat - room in the boot for a buggy etc - ecconomical (coming from the Smart Diesel giving 60 / 70 mpg) - not look too naff / family car ish - budget between £3k - £5k - be capable of seeing out 5 years life with me and the family - cheap to maintain and run - driving is mostly A-roads with a drive through (a small) town from cold each day and back through town at night.

  • Hyundai ix35 - Ecomony Figures 23 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The quoted mpg figures from the brochure are as follows : Urban 40.4, Extra Urban 54.3 & Combined 47.9 The car had 10 miles on the clock when I bought it, and so I fully expected the engine would need to be run-in. The first 100 miles or so gave 36mpg. After about a week I went for a run and the car was indicating 42mpg, however since then the next 2 tanks full of fuel have both only averaged 34mpg. Hyundai UK said the engine needed 500 miles to bed in, while the suppling dealer said 2K.
