Debris in the fuel pump

What recovery action would you recommend having found metallic debris in the low pressure fuel filter of a 100,000 mile Peugeot 406 2-litre diesel? It's not exhibiting any other symptoms. Would you recommend a pump replacement now to protect the high pressure pump and injectors?

Absolutely. Replace the fuel tank sender pump, and recheck the filter for more debris every few days afterwards to make sure the debris isn't from something else.
