• Vauxhaull Corsa Turbo - Windscreen Heater Screeching 3 Dec 2020 (Forum)
  When the car is particularly cold at start up (less than 5C outside) as soon as i put the heated windscreen on there's a really loud screeching for about 30 seconds then it tapers off. It's only 2 years old and still in warranty so it was checked out last year but at the time I thought it was the heater and they couldn't find anything wrong.
• DVLA Change of Address 16 Oct 2020 (Forum)
  We will be moving into a lockdown area :-(  Just had a look at the DVLA web site and though it looks fairly straightforward to change address there doesn't appear to be an end / start date for the old / new addresses. In view of police checks etc we want to get the car log book, licence etc changed to the new address prior to the move. Given the time that I know these things can take to percolate through the DVLA I'm tempted to do it now.

  We have a 16 year old car that only does a couple of thousand miles a year but is very handy for runiing to the tip and carting grubby grandchildren about.  It is one owner and never failed an MoT but has just cost me £500 for brakes and an electrical sensor too.

  The lease agreement for my 2016 Scout 184 bhp 4X4 DSG is due to end in just under 6 months. I've already extended the lease from 2 years to 3 as I've been very happy with the car. It looks like they will want about £14K if I want to buy it at the end of the contract. Heart says - it meets my needs very well, I enjoy driving it and would miss it if it goes. Head says £14k is a lot to spend on a 3 year old diesel that might start to get expensive to run before long....

  Hi after some conformation/info. Had a new engine from ford Germany fitted in my car after a piston was destroyed. Expected to have to contact dvlc to regestered new engine number but apparently the new engine came with a blank plate and they punched the old engine number on it . I was able to inspect the broken one on site, so please no replies that it has not been changed.

  I'll probably be changing my Honda CRV this year, as it's ten years old now and getting a bit tatty.  It's a 2.0 petrol auto, and while it's no ball of fire, it's been a good reliable car. I'm looking at the Volkwagen Tiguan, and I'm wondering what the views are of the effect the emissions scandal will have on prices.

  HI all, I just recieved in the post a letter to say my 2005 honda cr-v is being recalled for a fault with the air bag inflator. i dont know if this is old news or not, the letter states honda is recalled affected models from 2004-2012 as a safety precaution. I am based in germany so i do not know if that would also affect UK cars. just thought i would post as a heads up

  Hello, l would welcome forum members opinion on the merits of a Mercedes E class estate car (auto); as we need a vehicle with a big boot. l'm looking at an (approx') 7/8 year old model & undecided as to the 2.1, 2.7 or even the 3 litre diesel engine. looking at the data, in terms of the economy etc; there doesn't seem to be much between them.

• Jaguar X-Type - dsc sensor fault 31 Aug 2014 (Forum)
  Anyone with some advice please,, weve had our jag for just under 2 weeks, one of the key fobs was a little sluggish and had an old fob from a previous x type jag. He swapped the logic board from one to the other, went to start the car and dsc came up  , then tried again and flashing warning lights on dash came on. Have no idea what the heck to do.

• Mx5 mk3 2.0 roadster - Engine failure after90k miles 21 Apr 2014 (Forum)
  My mx5 has just suffered connecting rod failure. It's done 90k miles and is 7 years old. It has a full Mazda service history. It has never been on a track day or anything like that. This seems an unusually catastrophic failure for a car of this age. I have no idea what my options are and also whether I should have any expectation of Mazda looking into this further.

  Hi,Vauxhall 10 plate old shape has developed an engine judder and has code P113 error code,local garage tells me is maifold problem and is common fault.He advised me to contact dealer that I bought it from as is common fault,car has gone 2 months over its 12 months warranty.Dealer has said if common fault we will fix it if not you will have to pay (won't be cheap!).

  Bad Leak from fuel pipes feeding injectors.  3 year old car 26,000 mls only full Ford Main dealer service from new.  One lady owner from new. Bad fault on banana branch feed pipes, getting common fault diagnosis from trade. Any recalls from Ford that we should have seen ?

  Previously I could pull the selector back in a straight line but now it won't budge past N and I have to move it in a slight dog leg to get it into Drive. The car drives fine once I have overcome this and I can select P,R & N in a straight line. is this an early indication of something terminal or just "old age" Any advice gratefully received TIA
• C Max 1.8 Petrol - Calcium Batteries 5 Jun 2012 (Forum)
  The battery on my CMax appears to have died - it's 8 years old, so not too bad. It's of the calcium variety, so from previous advice on here, I intend replacing like for like. The Bosch website lists the S4 (Silver) as the direct replacement, but it doesn't mention 'calcium'.
• Hyundai Santa Fe - Buying new, model change later in the year 15 Feb 2012 (Forum)
  It is due late this year I believe, although the IX35 launch is not a good omen when considering waiting to buy one - I might get it in 2014!!! I have a 4 year old Santa, am due to change, and will undoubtedly have another Hyundai, but the question is to do it now or wait for the new model? If I keep ithe 'new' car also for 4 years will the residual be much different by that stage of its life?
