  • Discovery Dti fuel filter warning 29 Dec 2002 (Forum)
In-Laws are visiting this weekend (non 'car' people) driving Discovery Dti on an 'S' plate. Fuel filter warning light is on, and in that wonderfully vague way of hers, sister-in-law says " oh, it's been like that for a while". They're due to return to London tomorrow (200 miles) what do people think : call the AA now?
  • Diesel Fuel Lubrication 16 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Having bought a new VW Transporter in September 2000 (X Reg) with a 2.5 TDI 102bhp engine I am concerned to read about the possible lubrication problems caused by using the 'wrong' type of diesel. Is there a potential problem with my particular engine and if so what fuel or additive should I use? Please put me out of my misery!

Other manufacturers also have fuel cell vehicles in the pipeline. Although a fuel cell now costs about 100 times more than a comparable conventional engine, the cost should fall as fuel cells enter mass production. But there are still hurdles to overcome.
  • Mercedes-Benz C180 - Starting Probelms 7 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Therefore if there was a fuel issue I believe the car would be more difficult to start first thing in the morning (unless it was too high a fuel pressure).   Too high a fuel pressure should not cause starting issues unless the engine is being flooded which im pretty sure it isn’t.

  • 1999 Ford Focus TDDi estate - Engine cut out on motorway. Will not restart. 29 May 2012 (Forum)
Fuel pump broken? Fuel lines blocked? Injection? And any ideas how much parts (new/secondhand) and/or labour should be to have fixed in an independent garage or Ford garage? Thanks for any help offered.
  • Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 tdi - 2001 Vauxhall 2.0 tdi not starting 2 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Finally just to ensure fuel was going we disconnected the out line on the fuel filter and fed fuel in with a long hose and funnel. We then cranked the engine and the pump started to suck fuels rom our gravity fed line just fine, and fuel came out of the loose injected line alright.

  • citroen c3 2003 1.4 16v - c3 hdi starting problem 19 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hi i have a citroen c3 1.4 16v 2003 model, i recently changed the fuel pump and injectors due to the original fuel pump wearing and metal filings blocked the injectors. I have flushed the fuel pipe system and had the fuel tank professionally cleaned. All the pipework and elec connections are back in place and have put new diesel along with inj cleaner. i have tried starting the car but to no avail, it appears to nearly start but not quite.

  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1997 1.9 Possible fuel pump problem??? 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
After is starts then it's 1st time on the button every time after that. I've been told that the riser pump inside the fuel pump may be on it's way out meaning that the fuel is being sucked back and that they cost about £1500 for a new one? I changed the fuel filter today to see if it was something simple and i noticed a few (about 20) glitter-sized metallic fragments inside the filter housing.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - '00 2.0 HDi, High Fuel Consumption 21 May 2008 (Forum)
i took the car to a peugeot garage and they ran their diagnostics and found the following: "Investigate excessive fuel consumption. Checked to find no fuel leaks, checked ecu memory to find multiple faults in system which may contribute to excessive fuel use. parts and prices listed below air flow meter. £106.25 low pressure fuel pump. £220.83 accelerator pedal sensor. £93.94" I dont like the fact they used the word MAY above, and various sources have told me that these diagnostic checks are not always 100% accurate, so im a bit wary on forking out so much money if im not certain its going to fix the problem. 1.
