  • VW Golf GT 160 - Rejecting a Lease Car 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Hi, my problems with this car are well documented on other posts so I won't repeat them now. To cut a very long story short I had the above vehicle on lease but with a non maintenance contract (big mistake I know). Initially I dealt with VW myself getting the warranty work done and using their loan cars.
  • Dmage to car at garage 2 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Collecting the car today, they told me the fuel problem was fixed but when I went to the car I found it had been damaged. the cover for the drivers door mirror had gone.It was there yesterday morning. When I went back after a lot of shuffling abut they looked at the car, then dug out workshop papers which showed the mechanic had noted the missing cover while he had it .
  • Honda CR-V - How negotiable are costs nowadays - or wait? 11 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Searching Honda used cars suggests this is at least partly true. If we reject this deal and wait, we may end up buying from the same dealer so it'd be better to keep them onside. This is a Honda dealer & we'd prefer to have an "approved car" over one from a non-branded forecourt partly because you get better history, warranty etc and partly because there are no large independent dealers around us.
  • vw costs (golf GTTDi) 8 Nov 2005 (Forum)
She prefers to keep it serviced at a main dealer, something with which I don't agree. (She keeps it serviced by vw as it is a work car for which she receives a salary supplement, previously had a "real" company car and got used to main dealers, but never saw a bill!) Anyway today was 1st service out of warranty and I was therefore worried.
  • Oil change tools, New Mercedes C Type 15 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I always keep my cars a long time, and I change my 11 year old 180K Cavalier's oil every 5 -6000 miles. My 11 month old C type 200 K's on board generated service intervals however, are apparently happy to take the car to 10K miles or more between the service intervals that I am obliged to follow to maintain the cars 3 year warranty.
  • Rear window heater damaged on new car 6 Nov 2002 (Forum)
What I would like to know is do I have a case against the car supermarket for replacing the rear screen? I know that the damage cannot be repaired under warranty, so I called them and they have asked me to bring the car in to be inspected by the workshop manager, which I will be doing on Monday.
  • Audi A4 B8 - Should I keep it after a DMF replacement 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
It seems silly to get rid of the car after 2 years due to depreciation but feel that my hand is forced. An S-Tronic uses a DMF so that would need seem wise. It seems that a Mercedes C Class uses a goold ole torque converter so that may be the way to go - I just don't know if I can live with the boring dash/interior after driving an Audi!
  • Buying advice - E220cdi or Saab 9-3 2 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Found a nice one from a trader with a short warranty - heated seats (mmm), half leather, 1.9tdi 150 auto saloon vector sport 2005 05 metallic silver with ipod connect and xenons and an upgraded sound system. And 53K miles. And he'd give me 5200 for my car.
  • Hyundai i30 Diesel - Hyundai incompatible with BioDiesel Changes??? 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The car was serviced in October 2013 by Macklin Motors (whom I purchased the vehicle from). The car showed no issues - although a fuel filter wasn't changed during this time. Further to this the car was MOT in January 2014.
  • Land Rover Range Rover Sport - Engine 'submerged' and written off 18 Mar 2023 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2021 3.0 diesel Range Rover Sport HSE that broke down (in the dry) and the main dealer garage are saying it's been submerged, needs a new engine and is not covered under the warranty. Extraordinary for a top 4x4 marque that uses images of the RR Sports driven through reservoirs, lakes and rivers in it's advertising and PR materials. It has not been through anything more than a big puddle in the road and never been off road.
  • VW Polo - Which one should I go for??? Please advise 23 Oct 2015 (Forum)
£1690   1.4 has 78,000 miles. £1400   Note: The trader offers 6-12 months warranty and also delivery of the car too.   Is it best to go for the 1.4? or go for a slightly smaller engine with reassurance from a mechanic? Please advise me on what would be best, Thanks!
  • Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 06 1.9 Blower not working on 4 28 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Hello, Could someone please help me with this. I bought a used Renault Scenic 2 weeks ago from a reputable, although not Renault, dealer. However, yesterday I got into my car and noticed that the blower does not work on setting number 4. It is fine on 1, 2 and 3 though.
  • Any - DPF - What is all the fuss about ? 19 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Can someone outline in simple terms what the problem is with DPF equipped cars. and under what circumstances they are likely to cause problems. I have a 2009 Passat CC 2.0 TDI, just done 60 K and now out of warranty and I've never had any bother at all.
  • New Fiat Panda clutch 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Recently the clutch has started to judder badly when setting off in 1st gear in traffic. It only seems to happen after about 5 miles when the car is fully warmed up. I have tried several methods, using slightly higher revs, slipping it slightly but it still judders and is so bad it makes the engine mounting knock. Seems worse if you are in heavy traffic with hill starts.
  • Nissan Almera 1.5 SE W Reg 23,848 Miles 27 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I had an expensive experience yesterday had my car in for full service and mot and it failed on the o/s/r brake caliper had seized not due to corrosion . The garage i used advised it was down to a component failure inside ! They were quite amazed as they seem to think a part like this should have lasted a lot longer .
  • Driving with defective indicators 17 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I assume it would be my wife's 'fault' in driving without effective indicators, but given it physically couldn't be fixed until Tuesday does Audi have any duty here, even if only down to 'you musn't drive it until repaired' or even (we're talking fairy-tail land) 'you musn't drive it and please use our courtesy car until it's fixed.'
  • Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - 2004 2.4 Engine Replacement 9 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Another company has been accused of obtaining the car and then falsely stating that other components are at fault - thus increasing the cost of repairs. As they have the car and have removed the engine, your hands are tied and you feel compelled to pay the rising costs.
  • VW Polo 1.4, Match (62 Reg/2012 Edition 5DR PETROL - Whining sounds, creaking, judder 24 Aug 2018 (Forum)
The vehicle comes with an MOT guarantee (i.e. any issues VW will fix to a certain price point) and it also has a 12 month warranty, see here: https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warranty/used-car I really like the car, and I got an excellent price for it and it's almost new due to the very low mileage and I would be happy to get these issues sorted rather than having to return the vehicle and go around getting refunds and travelling.
  • VW POLO 2023 - Is it right that I pay? 20 May 2024 (Forum)
I could understand if I was the one to cause the issue however it’s only 7 months old (thankfully under warranty) and while I’m extremely grateful that I could be provided with a replacement, it’s also left me out of pocket for the fact I’ve had to now refuel a second car. Is this something I should ask about or do I just leave it and refuel the curtesy car?
  • Ford Grand C-MAX - 1.6TDCi Loss of power, no fault codes. 12 Jun 2013 (Forum)
The car has done over 17,000 miles, and gets plenty of long runs so the DPF shouldn't be getting clogged. I also let the turbo cool down properly after long trips. The car's not used a drop of oil, and I've only ever fueled it with premium diesel too.
