  • More Cheap Cars at Auction Today 17 Aug 2007 (News)
    But stock market meltdown, pension worries and fears of higher mortgage rate has been keeping punters off the car lots this week so only the bravest dealers were buying for stock. Unless, of course, the cars were very cheap. So while someone left their brain at the auction gates and paid £8,400 for a 42k mile 04 Passat TDI 130 estate, others were filling their transporters with bargains.

  • Record breaking results at Race Retro sale 4 Mar 2016 (News)
    A 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II set a new world record when it went under the hammer at Race Retro. The car, which had just 1723 miles on the clock, sold for £292,500 on 27 February. A 1987 Ford Capri 280 'Brooklands' with a similarly low mileage of just 936 miles, sold for £54,000 – another record.
  • Ferrari 250 GT could make £8.5m at auction 3 Dec 2015 (News)
    A 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta could make up to £8.5m when it goes under the hammer next year. The car will go under the hammer at the Artcurial sale at Retromobile in Paris on 5 February, 2016. The matching numbers left-hand drive Ferrari is the last example built and was previously owned by Swiss collector Antoine Midy since 1989.

  • Ferrari 250LM makes £6.3m at auction 19 Jan 2015 (News)
    A 1964 Ferrari 250 LM with an impressive competition record sold at auction in the USA for $9,625,000 (£6,355,649) on Friday. The car, chassis 5899 GT, was the most expensive car sold in the history of RM’s famous Arizona auction sale. Fitted with a 320bhp, 3286cc aluminum-block V12 engine with six Weber 38 DCN carburettors, it was the ninth of 32 examples made.
  • 1949 MG TC Sells for $490,000 18 Jan 2015 (News)
    A 1949 MG TC has sold for for $490,000. Okay, it was Carrol Shelby's first race car, this was Barrett Jackson, Scotsdale Arizona, and as part of the Ron Pratte collection the money was going to charity. But us folks over in little old England are more used to a £20,000 - £30,000 price range for MG TCs.

    A survey by Intelligent Car Leasing has revealed that younger drivers and male drivers use their phones at the wheel more often than older and female drivers. 1000 adults were asked if they had held their phones while driving in the last 30 days – 10 per cent of males and 4.5 per cent of females admitted that they had.

  • New Ford technology prevents door dents 22 Sep 2011 (News)
    The system works automatically when a door is opened, with a protective flap opening in a fraction of a second to prevent damage to both the door and other cars against which the door might be opened. A dented door repair can easily cost £250, and according to Ford’s research, only 85% of British drivers believe perpetrators would admit causing damage by carelessly opening their door.
