  • Safety conscious? Riding vs driving 1 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I do a lot of miles in a year and never would have considered myself a careless driver - in fact, I try to remind myself to be aware of my driving style, my position in the road, hazard perception etc. I do my best to keep safety uppermost in my driving behaviour and be conscious of how I'm "managing" the car. Since starting to ride, I have come to realise just how removed from the driving environment the car makes me.
  • Modern Small Cars 15 Jan 2006 (Forum)
My current car is actually a fun drive, is smaller out the outside, bigger on the inside than any of the current cars. The performance of my car doesn't seem too bad after driving some of the other cars either. Has anybody else found modern small cars to be boring?
  • Small earthquake in Chile: no casualties 25 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I was lucky enough to be going on a date last night; on the way there I made a diversion to a Chinese Take-Away for later collection on the way back. Driving down the road to the Take-Away, in the back of my mind, I was considering the best time to ask for the Chinese meal to be ready for. This banality was rudely interrupted by the sight of a car driving fast towards me: on MY side of the road.
  • Not your usual dilemma! 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
And that would be to get rid of both the Porsche and the Peugeot and get a much newer "proper" sports car with decent driving involvement, mod cons and that I can drive all year round. (I will still have a Porsche to drive because my other half has got one, and he also has a Passatt estate so we have a practical car too!)

  • BMW 5 Series E60 - High rate of battery discharge & starting problems 7 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I bought a 2005/05 BMW 530d M-Sport at the weekend that is in great condition, with full service history and all of the paperwork. It drives like a dream. As I was driving it home from where I bought it, and sitting in heavy London traffic, the i-drive popped up suddenly to say "central electronics failure - you are unable to continue your journey.

  • An Open Letter To Car Drivers 6 Jan 2008 (Forum)
t stop and think of the many hours we?re held up by ?shunts? on the motorways and at junctions and roundabouts by 4/5/6 cars driving into the back of each other caused dimply by lack of concentration and bad driving. Yet, you criticise us for bad driving when a lorry has an accident, it?s always because he fell asleep, or was driving like an idiot.
  • The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 15 5 Dec 2003 (Forum)
At his last court appearance in Barnsley, North persuaded magistrates he was indeed a responsible driver. The court took the unusual step of imposing a driving ban to run concurrent with the ban another court had imposed just two weeks earlier. ?I know it sounds like an excuse,? says North, ?but I am just a hard-working professional who drives a lot of miles.

  • Renault Captur PHEV - Test Drive 20 Oct 2022 (Forum)
Secondly, it uses a 1.6 normally aspirated engine, which isn't used elsewhere in the range, and that seems to suit the concept better than repurposing a smaller turbo engine. The car itself drives very nicely, it's comfortable and the interior is much better (i.e. less grey) than most.  The only problem is the boot is small.  The back seat slides forward to make it bigger, but that leaves zero leg room.
