  • A Grand Monday: Renault 25 GTS Auto 12 Jun 2017 (News)
At the time, every French car maker had a big executive barge in its line-up, each with its own type of gallic flair. Citroen had the ultra-weird CX , and Peugeot the boxy but beautiful 604 .  The Renault 25 was somewhere between the two.

  • TFI Friday revival: Partying like it’s 1996 12 Jun 2015 (News)
1996 saw the launch of the Ka (Ford’s innovative new city car), the A3 (Audi’s take on a poshed-up Golf), the SLK (Mercedes-Benz’s new compact sportster), the Elise (Lotus’ brilliant new stripped-out roadster) and the Saxo (Citroen’s latest supermini, destined for major success among baseball cap-wearing teenagers in the years ahead). Some of the newcomers of ’96 went on to be huge successes, changing their makers’ fortunes in the process.
  • Channel Tunnel: Happy 20th birthday 8 May 2014 (News)
Time to set the scene. In 1994 the Vauxhall Omega was the brand new kid on the block, and Citroen Xantia and Ford Mondeo last year’s old news. The thrifty or sadistic fleet managers could even still buy a new Maestro (much to future Rover CEO Bernd Pischetsreider's dismay). Air conditioned cars were just filtering down to the lowly models, in car entertainment peaked at the new CD multichangers, and a 60-series tyre was still considered low profile.
  • Budget 2014: Classic car road tax exemption now rolling at 40 years 19 Mar 2014 (News)
We've already given you a run-down of some of the cool classic cars, introduced in 1973, that will be newly VED-free from April 2014 - and, from January next year, with the rolling exemption set at 40 years, more new cars come in, such as the Citroen CX , Lamborghini Countach , Volkswagen Golf Mk1 (below) and Triumph Spitfire 1500 .
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day 26 22 Jun 2013 (News)
He now leads the Classics in the European Trophy after a consistent day crossing country and arriving on time. In the Classics, the big Citroen DS23 posted 6:08, Gerry Crown posted 5:22, and Peter Lovett’s Porsche smoothed out the corners to post 5:30, nobody getting near the time of the hairy Holden Ute. John Layzell’s VW Beetle developed a pistol-cracking backfire on the over-run into corners and set 6:14, and John Rich was a surprise performer in the 4x4 Toyota Jeep, posting 6:17, a reward for a particularly neat driving effort.
  • Report: Peking to Paris, day one 28 May 2013 (News)
This is not what you'd expect on day one of a month-long event, and bodes well for an interesting rally - from a spectator's standpoint. But the Citroen DS23 (below) from Australians Bob Sherrard and Peter Washington glided over the rough stuff, and just hoisted up its Hydropneumatic suspension to sail through the floodwater. The car that won the 1974 World Cup Rally across the Sahara in the hands of Jim Reddiex and Ken Tubman made light work of the day’s challenges.
  • Classic Cars Still Showing Investment Potential at Auction 9 Mar 2013 (News)
.  A 1956 Triumph TR3a with hardtop and Minilight wheels made £23,350. An oddball, but attractive and practical 1981 Citroen H van reached the top end of its estimate scale at £8,750. And someone looking for a fun track-day car paid £12,750 for a 1999 Caterham 7 Superlight R that had failed its MoT on emissions.

  • Earls Court Motor Show set to star at Goodwood Revival once again 24 Aug 2011 (News)
Expect to see gorgeous and influential models, such as the Jaguar E-type, Bentley Continental R-type, Citroen DS, plus various Maserati, Ferrari and Alfa-Romeo models. Goodwood’s historic links with Earls Court are strong.  The famous London Earls Court exhibition site was built on land once owned by the Duke of Richmond; the Earl in the name referring to the Earl of March, from whom the present 10th Duke of Richmond, and his son Lord March, are directly descended.

Buyers Turn a Profit on Scrappage 23 Jun 2009 (News)
Glass’s, publisher of motor dealer ‘bible’ Glass’s Guide, says that for in-demand superminis such as the new Ford Fiesta, FIAT 500 and Citroen C1, a profit of up to £1,100 could be available if the consumer had received the full scrappage trade-in discount and then sold their new car privately after taking delivery. “The potential profit is greatest for those cars where the nearly-new value is currently high in relation to the list prices; notably small, affordable cars with low running costs,” explains Adrian Rushmore, Managing Editor at Glass’s.
