  • Ford Fiesta - Fiesta 2008 TDCi Powertrain malfunction dash light 12 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Only running on 3 cylinders and misfiring. Had the fuel injector on cylinder 4 replaced, at a cost of just over £380.   Car still not fixed, but looking around at other garages and getting other opinions before going ahead with what this garage recommended - a fuel injector loom replacement.

Got more difficult and more frequent. Good dose of Easy Start effective, long Jump start usually worked. Replaced Fuel Rail Pressure Relief Valve. Solved. With hindsight from purchase the van had low revs flat spot. Got worse with low power right up to 3000 revs or more.  Cleaned EGR ,not really bad, no change.Replaced MAF Sensor, problem solved.

  • Nissan Qashqai? - Affordable new/used family car for long commute 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
The most important criteria are: • A decent sized boot for my greyhound (when I'm not driving to work) • Really good fuel economy - I'm looking for at least 50mpg. • Total monthly running cost no higher than my rail season ticket of £400pm (I may get a small compensation allowance on top but probably no more than £100pm).

I've done the following: Changed the fuel filter, filled the new one with 'Diesel Magic' and run the engine for 15 min's afterwards. Cracked off the injector pipes and all are getting good pressure. Checked the fuel system for leaks.
  • audi a4 v6 - 2.5tdi v6 start issue after camshaft replacement 19 Oct 2013 (Forum)
during the 6/7 turns cranks does not seem to get any slower so seemingly battery is not the issue. doesnt make any difference if fuel tank is low or full have replaced temp sensor but no difference. if i remove sensor car always starts in 2 turns then fan comes on.im sure it would be more difficult in winter without this though!
  • Throttle Hesitation in Xsara HDi 22 Mar 2013 (Forum)
s like as if the engine electronics is failing to recognise a change of load and is very slow to change from a lean mixture to a richer mixture. Once the engine gets fuel, then it?s away as normal. My understanding is that Hdi engines have an ?overrun? valve that reduces the fuel to the engine when the engine load is low. Am I right? When the problem happens, the engine management light on the dashboard remains off.

  • Is Diesel a false economy? 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Ive been wondering this for a while, with fuel prices rising more and more people switching to Diesel cars, indeed for the first time new car sales has had Diesels in the majority in the UK, but is it a false economy? In almost every case brand new the diesel variant of a car will cost more than its petrol equivalent, even with better fuel economy and lower VED it can take 1-3 years (even on medium-high mileage) to break even and then begin to see profit.
