Surprise! 21 Jun 2007 (Forum)
not sure what it was, which is not like me...) again, it was STAGGERING the number of people who didn't realise he was on their rear bumper even though blues and twos(with all the variations sirens have these days) were running: one or two people's immediate reaction when they DID see him was to hit the brakes! Talk about switch on mental cruise control disengage brain..... -- Tim{P} -
Daihatsu Sirion 55 plate - 60k report 13 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The car is a joy to own, averages 61mpg including a 40 mile motorway round-trip each day Carries 5 adults with ease - 5 doors as standard a big plus Enough power for around town Air con is great Handles with ease - very easy to park good, easy to use while driving stereo. an aboslute delight to own and run - highly recomended. Done nothing to it, except the service. Downside - bit noisy if going over 90mph We are considering another one (now only £6500!) depending on what they give me as trade in for the hyundai elantra. -
A new menace on the roads. 25 May 2007 (Forum)
They look like multiple fog lights to me and are far brighter than they need to be. I don't know if they are day-running lights like the Volvos, but every Audi S6/RS6 I have seen so far has then on. But perhaps it is just the owners showing off in that usual German 'prestige' car way. They are a pain, and are bound to become more widespread. -
Yaris 1.0 Petrol Engine Cut out 13 May 2007 (Forum)
The car has been back to the dealer and an ECU has been replaced, but the problem still persist. No fault code was recorded by the ECU. Any clues trying to get it fixed before the warranty runs out? I have told the friend to get rid of the car if the dealer can't fix it. Its too dangerous to drive when the car drives like a Pug 206, which cut out unexpectedly. Regards, Perfect. -

N reg Polo 1.3 turns over then cuts out 4 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Recently I have been experiencing this problem when starting the car: Key turns and ignition fires perfectly Engine turns over for 1 second, reaching satisfactory revs Then rev counter drops suddenly and engine cuts out Usually happens once, but when warm it happened 6 times before finally holding it's revs. So far no problems once up and running. What could be the cause, and what is the cure and likely costs? New to car ownership and inexperiences with maintenance, don't want to appear too naive when I go to the garage. Can anyone advise me please? -

Weird Radio Problem 24 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Funny thing is they all work perfectly when listening to a CD. As soon as I put the radio on only the left hand side works. As the car is a 'bangernomics' run around I really don't want to splash any dosh out for a new unit, but I do like to listen to the radio. It's a tad annoying coming only from one set of speakers. Any suggestions? I guess it's just down to age and use etc. -
18 months old before being registered 19 Mar 2007 (Forum)
My concern is that, does this have any adverse affects on the vehicle, rubbers, tyres, battery, engine oil or rust in the engine etc and has there been any updates in the model during the 18 month period. I would be greatful for any comments, the vehicle is only 4 weeks old and runs as expected. -
Don't drive as I do, drive as I say... 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
José Manuel Barroso insisted that fighting climate change was about 'collective action' José Manuel Barroso, who owns a Volkswagen Touareg, said: "I have never spoken of myself as an example to anybody - today's moralistic approach is not mine." The president's German-built 4x4 emits high levels of CO2, running at up to 356 grams per kilometre, well above a 130 g limit Brussels is seeking to impose on the car industry by 2012. http://tinyurl.com/ynm36y -
VW Golf 1.9 Diesel TDI injectors? 2 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I have just bought a VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.9 GL TDI 'M' reg. with 110,00 miles on the clock. I have found that the car judders slightly when under light load. It runs fine at speed or when pulling away and goes really well. It's when cruiseing on a light throttle doing say 40 to 60 that it judders. It's done 110,000 miles, do you think diesel injection cleaner will do the trick or will I need new injectors? -
2000 Vectra cutting out 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi guys, Looking for a bit of advice on my W Reg (2000) Vectra 2.0l SRi (140bhp). When it gets nicely warmed up, after a long run in gear, I put the clutch in and instead of dropping the revs to idle it just cuts out. The previous owner tells me I need to clean the breather/butterfly behind the air intake. He also said that the air filter may need cleaning (apparently, he put in a sports filter). -
56 passat MPG problem 17 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 56 plate passat as a company car, its done close to 6000 miles now and the average MPG on extra urban runs (up and down the M6) was usually between 44 and 49MPG, however since christmas eve I'm lucky if I can get it above 39MPG while driving it like Miss Daisy's chauffer !!! its been to VW who cant find any issues with it. 3 weeks ago I went to Belgium in it and it used a full take to get from cheshire to Calais then up to Belgium and back (with a full boot of wine ) and yet it cost a quarter of a tank last week to get to derby and back (90mile round trip).... -
Golf spluttering on acceleration 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I then went on to think it was a fuel fault so added red-x to the tank and took it out for a 20min run and the problem seem to get worse. Whilst idling its fine but from just reving it causes it to splutter, and worsens under load (actually driving it) -
Rover 400 1.6 Electrical Fault Mystery 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Recently bought a 98 Rover 400 1.6l for a run around but its beggining to drive me nuts. Heater control worked only at max (common prob 4 these) so thought to check the heating fan resistor which I discovered had been removed at some point. Am still to buy the resistor but now the electricals are playing tricks on me. -
I turned down a free 91 230 TE ... 14 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Offered to me for nothing, but my plate is quite full. The only known issues were that it need new rear brake shoes (she said) and it was running smoky. No idea how much oil it was burning - but otherwise good in/out I was told. Was I a fool? Could I have sorted all this for reasonable money and be riding around in a near-free bullet proof motor, or I did I turn down a money pit? -
2003 Ibiza bushes 12 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Also, how difficult is it to replace them? From what I can see the bush itself is attached to the body and the end of the wishbone runs through it. Thanks for any replies. -
Diesel Fuel Economy & Acetone 11 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I run a high mileage (>140k) VW Passat 110 TDi and have never tried using additive such as Millers etc. (See previous topics) In September Roly93 mentioned adding 1ml of Acetone for each litre of diesel in a previous discussion thread. -
Missing numberplate scam 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
One of my neighbours regularly runs his cars with no front numberplate. At first I thought it had just dropped off but then noticed that other cars he drives also have missing front plates. I've never asked him but the only thing I can think of is that he removes them to prevent being caught on camera from the front. -
Micra K11: cold stall problem 11 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Any ideas -- is this a auxiliary air valve problem, or a coked up throttle? Also, the previous owner used to run out of petrol now and again -- could it be a blocked fuel filter? Thanks Mike
