  • Prestigious cars in the classifieds 30 Jun 2011 (News)
That means brisk performance, 0-62mph takes just over five seconds and top speed is 149mph. Propelling a car that weighs over 3,000kg so quickly doesn’t do much for fuel economy, though. The official combined cycle figure is 18mpg, and CO2 is 377g/km. But who cares? This car cost £332,400 new but covering a massive(!)
  • 500 Buyers at 'Classics From BCA' Auction 6 Mar 2008 (News)
Robin Lawton, Head of Classics commented “The new brand certainly struck a chord with buyers and we saw a lot of new enthusiasts and first time buyers at Blackbushe. The event featured a wide selection of cars ranging from the 1930s to the 1990s and there was interest across the board.” Top value on the day went a modern classic, the 1999 Aston Martin DB7 that sold for £22,000. Finished in blue with Magnolia hide interior trim, it had covered just over 53,000 miles with one previous owner.

  • A Grand Monday: Hyundai Pony 24 Apr 2017 (News)
Hyundai's first assault on the European car market began in 1976 with the launch of the Pony - a car that was midway between a supermini and a compact hatchback in terms of its size, but was one of the cheapest cars on sale at the time. That first Pony was utterly conventional, rear-wheel-drive, with a live rear axle and a chassis based loosely on that of the Ford Cortina.
  • A Grand Monday: Mazda 626 8 Aug 2016 (News)
While the Japanese started to get a foothold in the British car market in the 1970s, it was during the 1980s that they really started to punch above their weight, offering cars that were comparable to their European rivals not just in terms of quality, but also in styling and equipment.
  • A Grand Monday: Mercedes-Benz 190 25 Jul 2016 (News)
Like this this 1989 Mercedes 190E two-litre, for sale at £995 and with an MoT until March 2017. Finished in pine green, it comes with a fully-stamped service history, which for a car that’s covered 203k miles is exactly what you want. There’s also a chunky history file, with recent bills from Mercedes dealers and specialists for more than a grand. So it sounds like the car is in good mechanical condition.

  • Fat Kids Cause Congestion 19 May 2009 (News)
In a country where one in ten school children is obese, walking just one mile a day would burn 100 calories, equating to 19,500 calories across the school year. Cars consume most fuel and pollute more at the start of their journey when the engine is cold, therefore, covering short journeys on foot disproportionately reduces carbon emissions. Over the academic year, a single car journeying a three-mile round trip will produce 234 kg of carbon emissions.
