  • Peugeot Partner Combi (2001 - 2004) - Pugeot Partner Combi - Buying a Demonstrator 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
They no longer need all the seats of 806 but still want load space and a high(ish) driving position. They have been looking at Citroen Berlingos, but this Partner looks like a good deal (Air con is a requirement). Any advice about buying a demonstrator? Good price? List price new is £12,987
  • 5k to spend any suggestions 21 Aug 2007 (Forum)

  • Ford S-MAX (2006 - ) - Turning your engine off at traffic lights? 16 Aug 2007 (Forum)
If this is true, how long would you need to be waiting at the lights before it becomes more economical to turn the engine off and re-start when the lights go green? For the purpose of this question, please ignore the fact that you will lose air con whilst the engine is turned off.
  • MG ZT+180 V6 Auto 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Well against the advice of friends and relatives I went out and bought one today, a lovely example in trophy blue on a 52 reg with FSH including cambelts changed, working air-con and no mayo in the oil cap! A nice half leather and suede interior and large spoiler to boot. Even after reading CBC breakdown I made sure that the engine cooling fans worked. I'm very happy (so far) so please backroomers have I made a bad chioce as everyone else i've spoke too seems to think.
  • Fiesta Zetec water in passenger footwell 15 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The puddle doesn't smell of coolant etc so I assume its clean water. Its only really been evident since she has been using the air con lots so im guessing its a blockage in the condensation drain pipe? I doubt it is the usual suspect (pollen filter cover) because it hasn't been raining! Any suggestions? If it is the condensation drain pipe, any idea how I get to it to clean it out / replace it?
  • Vectra 1.6i 16v misfire 23 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Incidently the car is often run on optimax (otherwise standard shell) and goes like stink for a 1.6 in a large car - even with the air con on! Thanks in advance
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 97 1.8 Heater blower not working 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
I have a P reg Peugeot 406 1.8 LX petrol, and the heater blower used to work intermittingly. But now it does not work at all - the light for air-con does come on and so does the orange light on the button but no blower. The heat setting does work because you can feel the hot air if you put your hand over the vents but it has not got any blower at all.
  • Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 1999 1.4 ECU Advice 27 Aug 2008 (Forum)
He mentioned if this did not resolve it, I should constantly keep the blower on at setting 1, and constantly have the air con switched on. I told him that the blower didn't work on settings 1 & 2 anyway, and he said that's even better as I won't have to suffer hot or cold air but leaving at setting 1 will still be triggered enough to power the fan constantly.
  • How Much for an MX5 Special ? 31 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Mrs Etchells has finally decided that an MX5 is the car for her and currently they do a vary tasty special with a hard top. The Montana has other extras such as leather and air-con and is priced just a shade under £3k over the price of a standard 1.8 model, at £18995. I have had a sniff around the dealer and naturally they claim that Mazda will not discount. But ! Lo,in this weeks local rag the very same dealer is offering it at £17995 with a £500 deposit allowance from Mazda.
  • Hyundai i30 - At what point would you lose confidence in a car? 29 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Today, at ironically the latest 2 month (ish) instalment, it's been back to the dealer to have the air con looked at as was not pressurising and not blowing cold. Topped up with gas and told to 'see how it goes' as it may have a leak that will require a new air con unit - warranty job again. Or apparently they need re-gassing every year???
  • All - Cost of cars rising 14 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I have started considering a new car, but as I prefer to have non metallic paint, I find my colour choice is limited  in some cases to WHITE. This is yet another con of manufacturers, getting an extra £400-700 out of the poor motorist, also I do not want air con, yet in many cases I have no choice, another £500, So thats £1000 that could be in my pocket rather than theirs.
  • Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - Sell or store - which is best? 22 Mar 2008 (Forum)
It's a Honda Accord (2000) SE Executive, with the 2.0 engine and automatic gearbox + plus all the various trimmings. No problem about going down on the comfort level provided I still have air-con. :-) Any advice? Oh, and one other thing - are all the 4 year old Peugeot 307s on eBay being advertised for about £4k with 1 mile on the clock con-jobs, 'cos there's a lot of them. They appear to be in West Yorkshire, so I'm wondering if they're all flood-damaged ones and being sold on the sly.
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 98 1.3 Heater issue 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Its just an ambient heat really. There is evidence of damage to the consol area, ie cracked plastic buttons for rear window and air con etc (which all still work). Does anyone have any idea if it is the dials or a suspect cheap heater valve? Dont know where to start really?
  • Toyota Rav 4 two wheel drive - May I have your views please 17 May 2021 (Forum)
Especially the driving position and high entry and exit which I really appreciate . But neither has air con so the search goes on and I have decided my ideal replacement is a RAV 4 diesel without no 4wd , manual and above all no Dpf . MK 2 up to 2010 ? Can you tell me what year the RAV 4 diesel was fitted with a Dpf ?
  • Vauxhall Corsa - Changing car 7 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Had a look at various car supermarkets and the choice has been reduced to a 1.2 SXi which are plentiful but without air con and a couple of 1.4's with aircon. Both choices are very low mileage. My wife averages about 200 miles per week mostly on a fast dual carriageway. My last experience of Vauxhall was a Viva HB so any upto date opinions re Corsa would be more than welcome.

  • Honda Accord Coupe 3l 1999 - Front/slam panel replacement 3 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Front/slam panel badly crushed at bottom. Is this hard or expensive replace? Any tips, or a guess at the price? Bumper, rad, air-con condense also need replacement, but they seem straightforward. I have found all parts except the front panel, available new, aftermarket. Front panel more elusive... Ideas? I understand after fixing i have to get a new MOT, and vehicle identity check.
  • Toyota Corolla - Low Idle Speed 4 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Ever since I bought it the idle speed seems to be rather low normally about 700, but ocassionally dropping to 600 with accompanying slight vibration. Pick-up is fine and the revs adjust normally for the automatic choke and when the air-con is switched on. I took it back to the dealership and they plugged it into the diagnostics computer and they said everything is O.K. and that Corollas tend to run with a low idle. Seemed strange to mention this afterwards or is that me being cynical.
  • De Icers 2 Jan 2011 (Forum)
[cynic mode] are a con. The trigger type ones spray a solution on to the screen that melts the ice.  so far so good.  If you're not quick enough the solvent/alcohol evaporates leaving you with a film of water on the screen that promptly freezes over.
  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 95 2.0 CDX Push-button Facia Panel switch bulbs 24 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Are the bulbs replaceable in the the Push-button Facia Panel switches (used for rear window heater/air-con etc.) ?? There are 2 bulbs in each push-button switch, one for illumination & one for when switch is operated. I have taken switches out, had a look at bulbs, tried pulling them out a bit with pliers, but they don't seem to be moving.
