  Hello, I have a replacement ecu for my fto and after spending an hour finding out where it fits I noticed its at the side of the dashboard on the passenger side, may be a silly question but would I need to take out the entire dash to replace the ecu or is there an easier way to do this?

  To try to stop this car stalling at speed I would like to shield the ECU from electronic interference (to remove one possible reason). I intend, if possible, to make and fit a Faraday cage over the ECU - but I can't find it ! Anyone out there who can tell me where it is?

  hi, does anyone know much about ecu flashers? i have been browsing google on info about theses remapping flashers and was wondering if anyone here has used one,or has any reccomendations on which one to purchase? i would like to remap my vehicles ecu,and be able to revert it to standard when needed. i have a spare windows laptop with serial and usb ports for use with the flasher.

  Has anybody had any problems with failure of ECUs on VAG 2.0 petrol engines? Our 2001 Beetle 2.0 (115hp) has just had a new one fitted after a one week wait to track down the only ECU in the country! Seems rather poor that such an item can fail after only 2 years/23,000 miles?

  Hello I had engine malfunction messages so took car to the Ford dealer. They said needs new ecu, £1450!. 20 mins after adding new ecu they tell me that new code indicated needs new throttle box, £450! Now should the diagnostic test have shown up the faulty throttle box first and had that been corrected would the ecu have been OK and not needed to be replaced?

  I own a good automatic '90 Vauxhall Carton 2ltr with genuine 48k on the clock. Thought ECU was faulty but jumping diagnostic output plug reveals a stream of code 12s - code for ECU initialisation (with engine running) and code 12s plus 31s with engine off (31 = no crank rpm!)so in theory - ECU seems OK!

  Do these ECU repair places guarentee to fix the fault or would it just be a case of "oh well it wasnt the ECU"? and to remove the ECU do i have to remove the pump and if so is it and easy job,(bearing in mind i brought the car for my wife who is due to give birth in 28 days!!)

  Has anyone any experience of "chiping" an Omega V6. Apparently things have to be done to the ECU otherwise the chip change wont work. Can anyone help with facts rather than assumptions on this one please. Thanks

  Can anyone advise here please. I need to do an ECU swap on a clio 1.5dci (delphi)   I can download the old units data with clip and upload to the new unit but this does not transfer the immo coding so it won't start. Renault state that the ecu cant be have this data re-written but I'm hearing that it can be done although no one can tell me how !

  Over the years I've seen a few discussions on various forums about resetting ECU's, but they all seem to be guesswork. Does anyone here know for DEFINITE how to reset the ECU on my 2001 VW Golf 1.4?   Different posts seem to say to disconnect the battery from anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours??

  my timing belt adjuster was loose so i put the car in to have a new one fitted. 8 weeks later and (after driving the car into the garage) the list of repairs are.... 4 new valves new camshaft ecu re programmed..... Apparently, as i turned the ignition off, the timing belt must have slipped and caused all of the above?   Any thoughts on how (especially the ecu) this is possible as im baffled and skint

  Hi all, I need to send off my ecu for test and repair but who to send it to? Any recommendations? I can readily get a 'kit' from ebay but would rather go the cheaper route which is hopefully getting my own fixed. I have replaced ECU some 6 months ago but same fault has occurred again
