Hyundai Santa Fe - ecu - trav6369

my timing belt adjuster was loose so i put the car in to have a new one fitted. 8 weeks later and (after driving the car into the garage) the list of repairs are....

4 new valves

new camshaft

ecu re programmed.....

Apparently, as i turned the ignition off, the timing belt must have slipped and caused all of the above?

Any thoughts on how (especially the ecu) this is possible as im baffled and skint
