  • Volkswagen Golf - DMF 15 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi All, I booked my Mk6 2.0 CR TDI 110 Golf in today at a local VW dealer, to be told once they'd looked at it it required a new clutch and DMF after only 43,000 miles. 10,0000 of those were done by me in 7 onths from when I bought it in July. They've quote £1450 to repair it. Which I am obviously not willing to pay.  Has anyone ever had this happen on their golf after such a low mileage?

  • OMEGA 2002 CD 2.2 - GEAR SELECTION PROBLEM 6 Apr 2012 (Forum)
With the engine off, gear selection is fine. When the engine is started, first and reverse gears won't engage. Could this be a clutch/DMF problem or something else? If clutch, is it possible to fix a standard clutch kit to the existing DMF?
  • SAAB 9-3 Sportwagon - Failed dmf 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Have owned car for 8 weeks in which time it has required a new wheel bearing, rust patch repaired and is now back in the garage diagnosed with a failed DMF and damaged clutch resulting from this failure. The car is 2006 with 56000 miles and came with a 12 month warranty the warranty company are refusing to pay claiming that this is wear and tear I have been quoted 1030 pounds to repair, the dealer is offering as a "good will gesture" to cover half the bill.
  • Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - 01 2.0 HDI Is my DMF on the way out? 26 Apr 2009 (Forum)
For example, heavy accelerating, and you can feel the pulsating feeling through the pedal and slightly through the gear stick, whilst at a steady 70mph not on an incline, I can barely sense this pulsating feeling, but again definately related to the engine's RPM. Before I get this checked out very soon, is it safe to say the DMF is on its way ? Thanks in advanced.

  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 07 1.8 DMF again and vehicle decision 12 Dec 2009 (Forum)
My current car withits torque converter is fine, but I worry about having to slip the clutch(es) in the DSG or on a DMF car. Today I visited the local main Ford agent to look at a Focus 57 reg, just 2 years old, that they had advertised. When I arrived, I was told it was in the workshop 'being prepared'. It turned out that they were having to replace the DMF.
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk iv 2001 MY PD Tdi 115 PS - Dual Mass Flywheel - Replace with Single Mass f/w? 2 May 2021 (Forum)
Not been on here for quite a while but have owned this car from new and at 280,000 miles the DMF is just starting tap lightly on tip in from idle drive in 2nd gear.  The tap-tap-tap is from 900 rpm to 1100 rpm.  I just wondered if it would be best to replace the DMF like for like, or go SMF.
  • Ford Mondeo Estate - Should I replace the DMF now or wait? 27 Jul 2013 (Forum)
If I do nothing, is it likely to deteriorate and could it cause more damage to the car by not replacing the DMF now?  Any advice welcome!
  • Vauxhall corsa d 1.3 cdti 07 plate - Dmf 7 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Hello everyone, A bit of a pre emptive question. Fingers crossed as yet my dmf is ok. However when the time comes I was wondering about the pros/cons of replacing it with a single flywheel. In addition what do people think a reasonable price is for having the clutch/ flywheel replaced, both for single and dual variants.

  • Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi 2002 - Lumpy Starting 3 Sep 2013 (Forum)
This time it was a different employee but they thought that it was the DMF disintegrating.  Quoted £650 for the replacement of clutch, DMF and slave! The starter engages and disengages cleanly.  The gears change smoothly.  The clutch does not slip.
  • Nissan Micra K13 Petrol 2013 1.2i (Acenta 2010) - Does my car have a DMF or not? 18 Nov 2024 (Forum)
The head mecanic at my local Nissan dealer test drove it this morning and says the cluch has worn out. To my slight surprise he said he didnt know if it has a DMF or not, though I kind of assume with it being a small petrol engine it doesn´t? Does anyone know for sure ?To change just the clutch with them its 900 Euros but 1600 Euros to change the DMF as well.
  • Peugeot Boxer Van 2006 (New Shape) - Dual Mass Flywheel causing vehicle vibration 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I have had another compresion test done and compression is good in all cylinders. the main dealer is still saying that the replacement of the DMF would not rectify the running problem, and certainly not rectify the compression. My argument against the main dealer is that the new DMF has sorted out running problem but obviously the new DMF wil not rectify compression, I believe an error was made in the initial compression test which led me to incur unessesary costs in stripping the head down.

  • Volkswagen T5 Transporter 1.9 - Pilot bearing 17 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Hi, Can someone tell me if the flywheel on the 1.9AXB comes with a pilot bearing or if the pilot bearing is located on the transmission and comes off with throwout bearing guide? I'm having the clutch and dmf swaped with a valeo kit4p and the dmf seems to have no pilot bearing but after searching on part sites it seems that the throwout bearing guide is considered a pilot bearing.
  • Mitsubishi Outlander Diamond 2.2 - oil covered clutch 19 Jan 2014 (Forum)
main dealer replaced the clutch on my 2009 outlander (80k miles) due to slipping under load.  Within 300 miles the crank oil seal has failed (they did replace it)  covering the DMF and clutch with oil.  The dealer now just wants to replace the clutch and not the oil covered DMF...is this correct or should they replace both?
  • Ford Focus - Rattle on engine stop TDCi 29 Sep 2012 (Forum)
(reposting from Motoring Discussion section) I have posted before about clutch/DMF issues on the Focus 1.8 TDCi. I have recently bought one, 2009 with 134k. I decided that given the high mileage and a rattling sound that it would be prudent to change the clutch, DMF, slave cylinder and gearbox oil (as the car is young and in overall very good condition).

  • Ford Focus Combi 2008 1.6tdci 80kw - Ratle sound 1.6tdci Ford Focus G8DB 1 Mar 2016 (Forum)
A while back I started hearing some strange noises from the engine. These noises are similar to what you hear on a car with a faulty DMF, a ratle wich apear aywhere from 1200rpm  and disapears just when reaching aprox 1700-1800rpm. I do not think the ratle is DMF related because I am not experiencing variations in the idle speed or hard vibrations through the chasis similar to my past experience with the faulty DMF on a VW T5.
