• KIA Picanto - Adjust rear wheel alignment 5 Apr 2014 (Forum)
  Has anyone corrected non-adjustable rear wheel alignment (on a front wheel drive car) using stock shim material.  I'm thinking along the lines of placing a strip of suitable thickness material between the outer edge of the stub axle flange and the suspension arm.

  Hi I have an 2001 Almera Last night somebody pointed out to me there is a difference of about an inch in the gap between wheel and wheel arch, between the left and right wheels. The left side gap is noticeably smaller I had the wheels aligned the day before, are the shocks gone on that side, or is it something to do with the alignment Thanks J

  I have driven many cars at speed and none of them ever made me feel like that.  What is the best set up for the 4 wheel alignment please? Any recommendations?

  The latter manual suggests that the timing marks on the cam-belt housing and the adjacent pulley should be aligned using a strobe, and that the mark is not TDC but is the correct value BTDC. But when I aligned the cam pulley mark to TDC, I found that the bottom pulley/cam-belt housing marks are also aligned, indicating that these marks are in fact TDC and not the correct timing values.

  Hi all, I recently had all my tyres checked and aligned as neccessary at a local tyre place, on a Golf MK5 1.9TDI. The rear left camber showed up off limits before AND after the alignment. It shows as -1.53 degrees and limit is -1.47 degrees, so -0.06 degrees out of limits.

  Daughters car was pulling to right so put it into trusted local garage.  They checked the wheel alignment and osr was way out.  No adjustment possible to rear axle so was advised to replace it, but now that's been done, and alignment is within acceptable range for all 4 corners, the car still pulls to the right :-(

  My tracking is out, on my little peugeot 106  the tyres are wearing on the inside... so, too much toe out. I'm off later to try and align the wheels better, with some string, tape measure and axle stands. On youtube , I noticed a TrackRite mat, which tells you how much the wheel are off true 0 degrees.. when you drive over it.

  It also dissappears if I turn the heated screens on. literally increasing the revs to the extent where the needle barely moves is enough to stop it. Does anyone know where its from? 2) Tailgate Alignment - ive noticed my boot is not aligned correctly I.e as you look at the car back on the top right hand side of the boot is high (a clear 2cm gap). I have investigated and im 100% positive the right hand hinge is taller than the left and looks different by eye.

  Judging by the number of cars that have one dipped beam set dazzlingly high I can only assume that some people tamper with the alignment after they've had the car MOTd. I wouldn't have thought that under normal circumstances headlight alignment would alter significantly betwen one MOT and the next. -- L\'escargot.

  The rest of the car does not vibrate, only the steering wheel. I know this can be caused by an out of balance wheel or poor wheel alignment, does anyone know which is more likely? Furthermore, will about 3 hours of motorway driving today coupled with 2 weeks worth of city runarounds have done any major damage? I'll get this seen to asap but it would be a real pain to know I had destroyed the tires already.

  my fwd needs the the front two tyres replaced.ive read its best to move the rear tyres to the front and put the best on the back, im also planning on getting a wheel alignment and read they are pointless on worn tyres, so would i get the best from the alignment with the new tyres one the front as its the only adjustable area on the car ?

  I took my car to get the wheel alignment done today. The steering was fine before but once I got it  back it was swaying all over the place. I took it back and the guy redone it. He showed me the results on computer screen adn the tracking was spot on.

  Is it me or are garages incapable of tracking/aligning your wheels without making the steering wheel off centre? Everytime I have my tracking done even though they 'centre' the steeriong wheel and 'lock it' with the special lock, the steering wheel still goes off centre.
