• Peugeot 306 (2000) - Wipers suddenly slow. Help! 13 Jan 2011 (Forum)
  I just replaced the blades the other day, and during the cold snap the wipers often wouldn't work until I'd had the engine running for about 15 minutes, not sure if either are linked to my current problem. It looks like something needs fixed definitely, but not sure what.

    Iv'e been advised to do a re-boot after every thing goes to sleep disconnect battery earth join pos to neg and run voltage down and re-connect  I would like more input to this before trying this out afraid to damage ecu or some module any feedback greatly accepted Regards Mickeybo

  Hello all I have a strange story to tell, got the usual issues with the ICV lumpy running and erratic idleing. Cleaned it ran ok for few days then engine managment  light came on and back to lumpy, so decided to replace icv with a new one. On starting the  engine with the new icv in place the idle speed was constant at 4000 rpm.

  I'm wondering how difficult it would be to make the swap, it sounds like a big deal but both engines run on carbs so there is no ecu's to be messing about with and all the mounts will match up. Does anyone have any advice, anything i should watch out for or that I haven't accounted for? Cheers, Tom

  They said they've ran a diagnostic on it but found no fault so to just ignore it. I'm positive it used to stay between 80 and 100 when the engine was running. Any advice on this (potential causes, problems it could cause if ignored, previous experience) or at least someone to say it's not normal would be great.

  The start motor turns all the time but sometimes it shows no signs of firing. It can take up to ten attempts to start but once it does it runs fine. Sometims though it starts first time. I've searched the forum and someone had a similar problem when the engine was hot and fixed it by replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor but my problem seems to occur mostly when the engine is cold.

  My M reg Pug estate has recently developed a ticking noise that is coming from under the near side front wing. It appears to be related to battery voltage and is loudest when the engine is running. It goes quiete with the key out but can actually still be heard with a screwdriver, at least for a while. Air con does not work but switch in or out makes no difference. What is the device under the rear of the N/S wing?

  is cold the engine management warning light comes on. It is pretty consistent on cold days. The car seems to run fine (although it has a very tappety idle and it is a bit misfiry around 1,000 rpm - but then it is normally). The light does not go off during driving. I am guessing that there is a sensor malfunction somewhere and that it isn't very close to the engine - otherwise the engine heat would warm up whatever part has the issue.

  I changed the plugs on both my 1999 focus and my wifes 2002 1.8 petrol focus's at the weekend since then both cars have been trying to stall? It happens when they are warm, both start fine and run ok and the tick over seems ok but from time to time after driving and stopping or slowing down the battery light flickers and then the engine stalls?? The new plugs i fitted were NKG plug's and were the right ones for the engines.

  Would the engine be at temperature by the time I turned it off? Could I expect problems from running the engine for short low speed journeys? What MPG could I expect under these conditions. The 330d I am currently considering is a 2003 saloon. Should I go for a 320d instead? Any comments welcome.

  However he forgot to fill up with new oil and started the car. The car was left for a couple of minutes running and a small amount of white smoke came out the engine. The car got turned off immediately after that - he realised he had forgot to top up with oil. He then topped up with oil and left the car for an hour and half before trying to start the car.

  If I use the choke it wont start as sounds like too rich. ( correct me if I am wrong ) Apart from that annoying problem that even my garage cant fix, it runs really well. I hav e ordered a Haynes Pierburg book. Can any one help pin point the problem. Thanks Steve

  Hi on going probs with this car,ok any one can shed some lite on this prob,new egr,new idle control,new ht leads,so far,start car up in morning,no prob,drive for miles &miles no prob,minuate turn engine off restart runs like box of nails ,rev it up a minuate or so back to ok.if do not rev up ,& just pull away it will cut out,sometimes when it feels like it,air filter fine.stumped.some one has suggested the air pump next to battery faulty,dont acturly know what part in engine this plays.many thanks if u know prob,second guessing is getting exspensive.

  Hi There This is my first post so i hope someone has come across this problem before and can help me out,this is a factory fitted lpg astra that has a misfire after checking everything i have now found no 1 injector is not working and have changed it with another that i knew worked and still no joy i did do a wire test and there is no breaks that i can see so is it the fuel ecu playing up? the injector wire runs into a black box next to the fuel ecu i have no idea what this does so also can someone throw some light on this too i,ll await any answers. Thanks

  ok here's the deal, i have an n reg saab 9000cse turbo auto,   when engine is running it knocks on the right hand side and gets louder while driving, now i have asked a few people and have had different replies like it needs an oil flush and change to stop the noise or the big ends..... so my question is do i use some engine flush and change the oil and filter or do i just change the oil and filter as i have heard that engine flush will damage my engine and  the car has done 137,000 mls so i am unsure if it is safe to use engine flush..... please help.....

• Nissan Micra 1996 1.3 - Nissan Micra Error codes 141 and 143?!?!? 18 Apr 2010 (Forum)
  My wifes Nissan has had a intermittent problem that now seems permanent. The engine light flashes, the engine starts, runs for a few seconds, then cuts out. I did the self diagnostic thing and the ECU gave me error codes 141 & 143 (14 long and 1/3 short flashes).... I can't find anywhere that lists what these codes are.

  Hi, I was having problems getting my car to start a few weeks ago and it turned out that the battery was to blame, so I had a new one fitted. The car runs fine, but I tried using the trip computer for the first time since having the new battery fitted and it no longer works. The readout will only display the current mileage and pushing the button in the dashboard doesn't do anything.
• Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - 04 1600 Brake sticking on 11 Feb 2010 (Forum)
  My MX5 had new discs and pads last year, has been parked up more or less since September with only a few runs out. Took it out yesterday and it seems like the drivers side brake is sticking on - funny smell, wheel hot. I've arranged to take it to a local garage tomorrow but was wondering what may be causing it - I'm hoping a bit of lubrication will be the fix, but could it be more serious, i.e. expensive?

  The blower control switch does not work and the heater/cooler fan runs constantly. I have read some of the previous posts on this topic but not sure that they relate to my model. My model has an Auto setting for Air con. Haynes don't seem to cover the facelifted model, so am struggling to find the Resistor pack/speed regulator on my model.
