• Ford Ka - Spare wheel 3 Apr 2014 (Forum)
  Hi all, we have an issue with our Ford Ka  - no spare wheel supplied with the car! We've looked on the official Ford parts website and £158 seems very steep for a 14" spare wheel and tyre... Couple of questions: - Can the old Ford Ka wheels be fitted on the mk2?
• Ford Focus Saloon - Mileage and age 25 Feb 2014 (Forum)
  Although my driving and mileage is not suited to diesel a local, reputable garage has a 2010 Ford Focus 2.0 titanium auto with a genuine 5,000 miles on the clock.  Does this mean that engine etc is roughly equivalent to a 6 months old car or does the lack of use indicate there may be trouble ahead !  Every Ford Focus I've seen appears to have sports suspension as standard.  Is this the case and how is comfort affected ?

  Does it seem reasonable that the belt needs replacing at such a low mileage because of the age of the car? Many thanks for any advice!

  My question is, if the belt 'snaps' will it do any damage to the engine? My cambelt went on my old car and the garage told me I was very lucky not to damage the engine. If so I will get it replaced sharpish, if not, I shan't worry until next month, or when I have a spare weekend. Cheers, Chris

  The loads will be mostly suitcases with one or two small pieces of furniture. Priorities are reliability, low fuel consumption, space in the back (I miss my old Toyota Previa for that) and resale value (probably won't be keeping the car after these trips) My budget is up to £4000 - any tips?

  My dealer says that I have corroded discs and need pads and discs all round. Cost knocking £500 Just a couple of questions. Should I expect that of a car that is 3.5 years old and only done 33000 miles? Will I get a better deal off a decent independant garage?   Any advice much appreciated   Glyn D

  Most people in this country own and drive cars or other vehicles.  And yet the BBC doesn't have a proper motoring programme.  Many years ago there used to be such a programme, it was called Top Gear.  It's true there is still a programme called 'Top Gear' now, but I think that's something different, a sort of re-make of Last of the Summer Wine for a target audience of 11 year-old boys, from what I've seen of it.

  I've been onto www.motinfo.gov.uk and found all the old MOT info showing that the mileage on the car is accurate, but this wrong info has put the buyer off ! Has anyone any ideas on what to do about this ?

• Ford Galaxy Mk2 1.9TDI automatic - Outer CV replacement : Inner joint popped out 7 May 2010 (Forum)
  I'm changing the outer CV joint (passenger side). Whilst trying to get the old on off I pulled the driveshaft and seperated the inner joint ( still mounted in the car). According to some of the 'how  to's' you shouldn't do this but, is this such a big deal with the tripod type joint?

  Colleague has a petrol 2 litre RAV4, will be 3 years old in March, and just had diagnosed that the clutch and water pump need to be replaced and she is getting this done under warranty (car has done 19k miles !) I am thinking, are these chain or belt, if belt what is the time limit for changes, is it something she should get them to do whilst the water pump is getting done anyway?

  My key stopped remotely locking a few days ago, as car is three yrs old I thought the battery was expired. I got the relevant battery and fitted the replacement however there is still no life in it. Locks work fine with the key inserted, do I need to get the key re-codedin some way by ford dealer?
• Hyundai Coupe (2002 - 2008) - Exhaust Dropping Off? 1 Jun 2009 (Forum)
  Seems like a metal bracket has parted from a rear silencer and overstressed the remaining rubber mount. Hoping that the main dealer will sort this under warranty. Car is only 17 months old but the exhaust system looks very rusty. My aluminised Passat exhaust had no significant corrosion at 6 years.

  noticed the earth cable from the battery was hanging off yesterday causing it not to start so i put a ring terminal on and it started again . then wen i came out this morning it failed to start again . tried jump starting it with no joy . also changed the battery to no avail after the old one went dead . the car turns over but doesnt start . can any one help please

  They aparently have to replace the complete rear window due to the fault being in the wiring in or going through the window! I would think an unreasonable amount to have to pay on a car not yet 5 years old? Presume I have to write to Peugeot UK to stake a claim for cost sharing?

  hi all hope somebody can help after having a good old antipollution fault on my car for some time now i decided to have it put on the diognostics it came up with a canister purge fault i think the code was p0422 i was wondering if anybody could give me any advice about this and allso tell me where the valve is located and if it is easy to replace thanks all.

  There is a very nice new Mazda 6 in our car park. It about two months old. I looked inside on Friday from the pasenger window and was amazed to find that the gear knob has deep and numerous scratches on the left side where a ring on the ring finger has come into contact with the metallised plastic.

  It accurs to me on browsing down the makes of cars featured in the forum Technical section that it would provide an interesting ongoing record of the comparative reliability of makes and models. For instance, I have just scanned back through several pages and cannot find a single Volvo problem for any model, old or new.
