  • Good old-fashioned cassettes 28 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I've noticed that the BR has been getting a little 'heavy' lately so, in the intention of lightening the mood, I've started this thread. How many of us out there still have only a radio/tapeplayer in the car rather than a CD/minidisc/mp3/wax cylinder player? And if you do have a tape player, what mouldy, broken old tapes are languishing in the back of your glovebox? For the record, I only have a tape player and I can muster the best of Paul McCartney, Tony Bennet Swings, The Three Tenors, Round the Horne Vol 2 and several home made ones including The Rocky Horror Show, Barry White, Robbie Williams' Swing When You're Winning and a 70;s compilation.
  • BMW Boxer 23 Jul 2002 (Forum)
What I intend doing is draining the old petrol from the tank and carbs and filling up with new, and jump starting it from my car to the old knackered battery. Advice on two points would be appreciated: I) If it doesn't start as above any ideas what do after checking that the spark is OK 2) Will there be any lasting problems with the bike because of it's lack of use?

  • Hyundai i30 - Paint peeling off 17 Apr 2020 (Forum)
It seemed to be where there were stone chips and it was just peeling off in big chunks.  I was using an ordinary garden hose and not a pressure washer.  OK the car is 11 years old but I have never heard of this happening before.  I assume it is the environmentally friendly water based paint being used.  Bring back the old Dulux and <expletive deleted> the environment.

  • Obstructing a Driveway 8 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hello all, I found an old thread on this topic, but it was 3-4 years ago so it seems to have gone quiet, so I'd be pleased if anyone can help with this shiny new envigourated thread :-) On the topic of blocking driveways, it was mentioned about it being an offence to block a driveway if there is a car in it - i.e. depriving someone the use of their car (but that blocking so someone can't get in is not an offence).
  • Ford Fiesta mk4 - Best way to sort out rust 6 Nov 2011 (Forum)

  • V70 or Mondeo ? oh dear............help 14 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I currently drive a new mondeo tdci which has approx 50,000 miles on now , the car is 2 and a half years old . I have allways fancied a V70 Vovo estate , the one that im interested in is a petrol manual 2.4 engine . The said car has done approx 60,000 miles and is 3 years old . So weird the mondeo allready is starting to show its age , the Volvo just drove it and seems much more of a solid not so wimpy drive as in the Ford .
  • Advice needed please! 13 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hello people, i have a bit of a difficult descision on my hands and would be very grateful for any help given. I'm 23 year old male soon to be 24. I've driven the same car for 6 years and have decided its time for a change. I'm currently looking for a new car at the moment and have narrowed my choices down to... Mark 2 golf gti 16v OR Astra GSI 16v... insurance is roughly the same as are parts... performance is better with the astra BUT it comes with the 'boy racer' tag.
  • Creaking Nissan Micra 7 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hi All, I have a Nissan Micra that's about 3.5 years old that has started creaking. The suspension has always made loud creaking noises going over big bumps, where my Dad's that is about 6 years old makes no suspension noises to speak of. I've now noticed louded creaking noises at slow speaks in car parks - especially when turning sharply and braking - such as when swinging into the parking space.
  • Golf Mk IV cabin tightness 18 Feb 2004 (Forum)
since taking delivery last year of new 03 reg noticed that 'last' door closes with a 'clunck' (like a seat!), not with a tight 'thump' for which a vw golf has/had? a reputation. and which my old mk iv s98 reg did. also 'schwish' noice of cars passing in opposite direction in my view definitely louder than in old car. as if a window not closed properly. my guess is door frame and/or window at drivers seat not tight, but vw main dealer unable find fault or do anything, "as water is not entering cabin"!

  • volvo s60 ( old model ) - looking at a new car 2 Dec 2011 (Forum)
most of my driving is on a/b roads in the south east ( with the twice yearly drive to scotland ,(  home )  i test drove the new volvo s60 d3 , loved the car an everything about it , but the boot is small !  it got me thinking of the old s60 2.4, an the d5 . would that be a good buy ( boot larger ,not much ) but as comfortable .  i,ve read the turning circle is poor so i could live with that  looking to keep the car for 4-5 yrs ( 100,000 miles or so )  what does the panel think ?
