  Last 14 years had VW's, but last one has been poor and I fancy a change. Am I letting myself in for (expensive) trouble with a 306? HJ's car by car breakdown lists quite a few potential problems with the 306 but these are probably with the older models. I can tolerate a lighter build quality which the 306 will have but don't want unreliability.

  HJs Car-by-car breakdown page seems to suggest that the next generation Audi A2 is due just over a year from now. Surely this is a mistake as the current model has only been out for a couple of years at the most....not long enough to recoup the tooling costs etc....

  I recently spent a couple of hours in a Nissan service area reception (don't ask), and was surprised by the number of Navara owners asking when their motors would be ready. It seems they have a problem around the rear half-shaft area - mentioned in HJ's car-by-car breakdown. I heard the exasperated staff tell one customer that another owner had been waiting since June for parts to arrive to fix their car. s

  Hi all I am going to look at a 2nd hand one of these tomorrow and I wonder if any of you guys can give me any pointers as to anything specific to look for? I have read the car by car breakdown and also HJ's invaluable advice about buying a used car privately. Is there anything that would spring to mind for anyone who has owned one of these? Its a 97 5 door 1.6 GLX hatch with low mileage (under 30k) with full history (ie serviced according to Mitsubishi spec).

  2) The Sale of Goods Act gives me protection in the first 6 months of buying a used car, in the form of the dealer having to prove that the fault wasn't present when the car was sold. Do injectors breakdown suddenly, or do they degrade over a period of time? 3) The dealer/warranty companies approved repairer recommended after the first breakdown that all injectors be replaced (it's stated on the invoice), but the warranty company refused to pay for that.
