  • All - DPF regen and low EGTs 2 Jan 2012 (Forum)
A hotter intake temperature will increase the temperatures throughout the engine cycle-including the exhaust-which will make the task of regenerating the DPF much easier. Of course, there is no free lunch. Hot air is less dense than cold air-so the available power will be reduced. However, if DPF regen is a problem, you are not using very much power. The other problem is increased NOx emissions (which is why the technique is not employed by OEMs.) However the MOT emission test is very lax and does not measure NOx emissions at all...

  • Fuels and their money - advice from HJ 19 Jan 2016 (Forum)
All new cars are optimised and calibrated for the ECDC economy and CO2 lab tests on the highest grade fuels available, which are usually Shell V-Power Nitro Plus petrol and diesel. • Rode a Deauville today - rambling post alert 21 May 2009 (Forum)
So, after a quick call to my insurers and a lift back to the pool, I found myself astride the Luke's Deauville. Although similar in concept and power to my own 650 V-Strom, it was different in nearly every other possible way. A noisier and much more agricultural engine with vibes to be felt all the time. Mild panic at seeing the ABS light on until I got to 10ish mph.

  • Need help in deciding a Crossover vehicle 15 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Mazda CX5 (2.2 Diesel with 148 BHP) 2. Audi Q3 (2.0 Diesel with 148BHP) 3. Hyundai ix35 (1.7 engine might be under powered for my daily driving) 4. Kia Sportage (1.7 engine might be under powered for my daily driving) 5. Nissan Qashqai / Renault Kadjar (1.5 engine might be under powered for my daily driving and the rear passenger space is very crammed) In general I like Symmetrical vehicles so I'm not considering vehicles like Ford Kuga, Skoda Yeti, Citroen C4 Cactus, Honda CR-V, BMW X1 which are a bit odd shaped.
