cops on a purge a6 18 May 2007 (Forum)
i was going through loughborough yesterday afternoon and parked up just after the alan moss roundabout was a white van with 2 cameras pointing out the back, i drove on toward the layby and a cop was pulling vehicles over , upon inspection i noticed vans, one had DVLA another had fuel testing written on the side and for good measure two cops on 2x1,s (motorbikes) to catch the chavs who would panic and do a nigel mansell toward derby, it must cost 1000s to set something like that up -
Carcraft 16 May 2007 (Forum)
I have £6k cash to spend on a s/hand car and was thinking of having a look around Carcraft. Can any of you share your experiences with me (good or bad) as to what they are like? Also: Can you haggle with them at all-especially for cash? -
Non franchised dealer servicing 10 May 2007 (Forum)
My Mitsubishi Colt is coming up to a year old, apart from a few rattle it?s not had any problems. The local franchise dealer is quoting a horrific figure for the first service though. A couple of years ago I found an excellent local non franchised garage that isn't cheap but does a fantastic job at a reasonable cost, so I'd like to use them instead. -
Watch out for Vandals in Sandhurst area 30 Mar 2007 (Forum)
One of my colleagues had her car "tagged" (I believe this is the term for grafiti) outside her house in Sandhurst last weekend. Tonight I take SWMBO to M&S for a bit of retail therapy and some nasty scrote has painted a rude word on the boot lid of a beautiful blue 07 BMW 325d Coupe. I did report it but as I did not witness anything I suppose there is nothing to be done. -
Diesel Engine Noise 3 Jan 2007 (Forum)
My A4 TDI 130 performs well, gets a good deal of hard motorway work and returns good fuel consumption, but tends to be noisier at idle hot or cold than other 'same-engined' cars such as other A4's or Passats etc. Why does the readership think this is ? Are diesel cars driven very gently less noisy ? I would have thought it would have been the other way round. Views please. -
Toyota - You ARE joking! 11 Dec 2006 (Forum)
A special price for older vehicles £140. No complaints at that. Plus coolant change & brake fluid change. More ££s than expected but convenience etc. etc. OK Centre exaust box rotting so best to have all replaced Sir, as it may be impossible to split it from the rest of the exaust . A small sum of £894.94 but that does include VAT and 1.2 hours labour. -

Can anyone give me some good advice as I dont really trust the fellas in the actual garages..... Cheers -
Cheap Channel Crossings 30 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I really like the tunnel, don't know much about deals on ferries but am very flexible if it'll save me £££s And what about booking two single journeys at special day rates rather than being fleeced for a week long booking? What are the pitfalls of this? Thanks Lee -- Without bills, magazines and junk mail, there is no mail -

Top Gear AM Vantage video 12 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I was looking on Youtube for a test the TG team did, as part of series of supercars, a few years ago, where they proclaimed the 80's Vantage the best supercar ever made. Couldn't find it, but did find this one which is also quite good: ://youtube.com/watch?v=P9-S1E2kguM (I seem to remember something about bandwidth leaching, so taken the http off the start, hope that sorts it out.) -
Medical advice from net 28 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Anyway, which sites would be able to give me advice about this in medical terms, in addition to protein c+s deficiency which my sister has. I would like information on this as she is thinking of taking a long driving trip, and I would appreciate any information or medical sites that might be able to steer me to clear information. -
Yaris rear wiper 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Mrs. S6's Yaris needs a new rear wiper blade. Both a branch of a national chain, and local 'corner shop' motor factor tell me it's a dealer only supply. The problem is the local Toyota dealer - we had a long running dispute with them, and I'm reluctant to let them have a penny of my money. -

Glow plugs Mondeo 18 Jun 2006 (Forum)
On starting from warm there is no problem. At all other times the engine runs fine. How do I determine which plug(s) may be faulty? Once determined is it easy to replace them and do I need any special tools and are there any special precautions or tips anyone can offer? Thanks in anticipation. -
Damage in supermarket car park 5 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My n/s/r door on the 406 has been damaged by a "runaway" supermarket trolley at a high profile supermarket. The incident was witnessed by three independant witnesses, and all was reported correctly to powers that be. -
Passat alarm 12 May 2006 (Forum)
Morning all Dont know if anyone can help. My VW Passat 130bhp 2.0L S alarm works fine in all respects, however when I sent the alarm there is no audable warning that the alarm has been activated, can this be changed or is the alarm set up this way in the factory, the reason I ask is that I just want the extra peace of mind that the alarm has been set/activated. -

1994 Audi 80 TDI Erratic Running 12 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Here`s the scenario..... Within 30 sec of start the Engine Oil Pressure Light illuminates and remains on. 30 Secs later the Engine Management Light (Orange) illuminates and remains on. The Rev Counter ceases to work and the power falls away rapidly as if the Turbo has shut down. -
What's this Lucas Alternator from pleas? 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
On the side it says: Lucas LRB163 V R54022453 BTT 50 / 03 Made In The U.K. I have tried googling it but without much success. Would anybody be able to tell me what vehicle(s) it might have been made for, or perhaps in the spirit of teaching a man to fish, how I could go about finding out myself please? Many Thanks. -- http://www.bayingbasset.com -
Subaru Legacy and Outback (1990 - 2004) - 06 2.0 RE - Cam belt or chain 9 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I know the earlier boxer engines fitted to the Legacy were belt cam driven, but does anybody know if the 2006 165 bhp 2 litre quad cam motor uses a belt or chain driven cam?? I have checked out Subarus website and H.J`s FAQ on this subject, where there is no reference at all for Subaru, so I am assuming they are belt driven but hope I may be wrong.
