Rover 114 gsi - Knocking sound? - ukjohnny
Hi all

I have myself a Rover 114 gsi Nreg. had it for two months now.
Came with a full MOT that was done at a reputable garage,.
Ever since ive had it, i get with certain bumps in the road, a knocking sound around the n/s rear of car. It sounds like the exhaust, but, ive looked all all over and under, and cannot find anything that can be making the noise....Its driving me mad!
Has anybody had this trouble? or can point me in the right direction.
Cheers

This is my first post, but as I have owned several of these cars I think I know what it could be. The rear suspension arms have bearings which require regular greasing. If this has been neglected, the noise you hear is probably wear in the bearing.

Just a thought. Pump grease into the bearing on the affected side and see [or hear] if this reduces the noise. You need to pump sufficient grease until you see it emerge from around the bearing. Also have the wheel clear of the ground while you do this. A jack should be fine as you do not need to be under the car.
