Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 2006 2.0 turbo petrol - Bad situation please help 22 Jul 2009 (Forum)
The light went out and I continued my journey, about ten minutes later there was a loud bang and my car broke down, I had to be towed from the motorway and then have the car towed from the depot to the nearest Vauxhall dealer. This cost me £150 and £100 respectively. I was obviously very unhappy that my car had broken down so contacted GM head office who told me that the dealer I had towed it to would investigate it for me, they have came back and said that the issue was due to the car being run with no oil. -
Breakdown Service for driver fault 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
She noticed her car was making a noise and she thinks one of the wheels might have been a a little off-centre. She called the breakdown service, She was told she would have to pay for a tow truck as it was driver fault. She was not covered under the breakdown service. Although, her breakdown company was n't the AA, but some us do remember adverts such as these: https://www.youtube.com/watch? -
MGZS Remind you of anything - GM parts bin bits 19 Sep 2018 (Forum)
There appears to be a school of thought that the powertrain of the ZS is being built "just good enough" low towing weight, low torque? remind anyone of Astra gearboxes? (GM bits) Although I liked driving the car as a day to day thing on a test drive (or 3 )..... ok on all counts, but only that. I decided to stick with the KIA venga. -
Nissan X-Trail - Family SUV recommendations - £25k 22 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I am spiritually opposed to MPVs and keen on boot space, quiet driving, and enough grunt in the low end to move. No need for towing. Cheers, Eddy -
MB Citan Dualiner - MB Citan Dualiner as our next car/vehicle 1 May 2016 (Forum)
Biggest concern would be good supportive seats and a decent driving position. A higher towing capability would be nice, but could be lived with. However if Van speed limits apply, this alone would be sufficient to rule the Citan Dualiner out. Presumably if registered PLG and taxed as a car, car limits speed limits should apply though? -
Car damaged in car park 21 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Daughter returned to her car ro find extensive damage to the front end (over £1K). Embedded in her car was what looks like a towing eye hole, cover plate. The numbers on it seem to indicate it's from a Daihatsu Sirion, but as they're as rare as hen's teeth I think it's unlikely. Anyone here identify the part number or format to throw some light on the identity of the perpetrator's car please? -
Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon 2005 - Towbar came with car but what bits are missing? 12 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Can anybody tell me from looking at this pic what bits I'm missing? I don't actually want to tow anything, but I do want to get one of those towbar-mounted Bike racks, probably a 2-bike Thule jobby. http://postimg.org/image/b61job7k7/ -
Best 7 seater 4x4 or similar? 5 Jul 2013 (Forum)
But I love the cabin size etc Need a 7 seater for family/shared school runs but also one that's presentable for taking clients/work colleagues in. 4x4 desirable as we tow a kayak trailer from time to time. I also like the 'height' of a 4x4 type car. Considering xc90 or x5. But also an s-max. Any thoughts or other suggestions? Thanks -

Ford Focus - Misfuelled Ford Focus TDCi 16 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I realised after about a mile when the engine was juddery, but still going, just. I had it towed and the tank drained. I then read on tinternet how much it could cost and panicked and called my insurance company. They said they would pay out, but my no claims discount was gone. Since then it started sounding okay and is now with the garage, being sent to the ford dealer. -

Trailer wheels - changing size 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
At present, it has 8 inch wheels - which means that I am always very careful to keep my speed low when towing. I think that from a point of view of safety and ease, it would be good to move up to 13 inch wheels. This gives me more scope in tyre purchasing, and less trouble if I travel at a higher speed. -

Jeep - Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD LTD 25 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The car will provide Mrs Geebee with daily transport to and from work ( approx 30 miles mainly country driving) and will be required to tow a horsetrailer complete with large horse - I've done the calculations and there doesn't appear to be a combination mismatch. Your help / information would be much appreciated, we don't want to make an expensive mistake. -
Roof boxes vs trailers 11 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Having seen the Roof box and economy thread it started me thinking what are the relative merits of a roof box verses a trailer ? I can't imagine there's much in it cost wise between a tow bar and trailer vs various roof bars, attachments and the cost of something like a Thule box. The roofbox is obviously limited by the (usually) 75kgs roof mounting weight of most cars and the trailer can be used for runs to the tip etc... -
Manufacturers - Spring & Damper rates 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Apart from renewing the dampers to get a fresh set. Some want increase the spring rate for heavier loads, such as carrying things in an estate or towing a caravan and others to get a sports ride, where as an example a Suzuki Swift Sport is tighter than the Std. Swift. This is because they can't afford the sports etc. But not wanting to reduce the ride heights as the kits you can get -40mm or 60mm etc.
