Hyundai - any good ? 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I recently checked out the CBC breakdown and looked up some Hyundai cars. Compared to some (even many !) marques they don't seem to suffer too badly. Is this true or are they worse than they look on paper ? Also I believe they now come with a comprehensive 5 year warranty which begs a question - could Hyundai afford to offer such a warranty if their cars were unreliable or fell to bits after a few months ? -
K-series inlet O rings 22 Jul 2002 (Forum)
The car-by-car-breakdown section mentions the following problem with the K series engine 'inlet manifold 'O' rings tend to perish between 25 - 30,000 miles'. I have seen this comment on the Parkers web site also. -

SAAB 900 XS Auto 21 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Still looking for a used auto second car. I have spotted a 97R SAAB 900 2.0 XS auto. It's got 113k with a full SAAB SH. The asking price is £2995. Seems very reasonable and I guess this is because of the mileage. Will this car be troublesome at this kind of mileage (I note the breakdown states it has a chain as opposed to belt so that's OK) The car will cover about 5k a year in local trips with the odd motorway blast Opinions gratefully received -

FIAT 500 (2007 - ) - Misfuel Hire Car 25 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I then realised that there was a small sticker on the fuel flap saying Diesel Only. I was quite surprised as the hire car company did not say the car was a diesel, and the car was quiet with great performance so I did not think I was driving a diesel. I called their breakdown Assistance which was in France, and they were quite surprised that I had driven to Barcelona. -

My friend went back hoping to start car next morning. When she got to the breakdown point the car was gone. To cut a long story short My friend has written one letter three emails and numerous phone calls within the last two weeks and not one reply not even a letter stating they had the car from the Parking Services. -
Problems with a Well Known Breakdown Co. 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a problem that I need some help and advice with. My wife recently had a very unfortunate incident whilst travelling in a friends car. This suffered a high speed tyre blow out and she called the Well Known Breakdown Company on her membership card. They sent a patrolman out who changed the wheel for the spare. The damage to the original tyre was pointed out and he even commented that it was a "nasty gash". -
First cars - the ones you're most likely to crash. 27 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I find it ironic that mainly due to insurance reasons young drivers are forced to drive round tin boxes like the 106, AX, Metro etc. All these cars have a high death point score on HJ's used car breakdowns yet are likely to be driven by 18 year olds with no experience. Does anybody else think there is something wrong here? Hopefully as time passes these old superminis will mostly be scrapped and modern ones (which are safe) will become the bangers. -

Fusion Durashift 1 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I do not get the chance to post very often but I do read most days if I can. I am thingking about a Ford Fusion Durashift, I have read the CBC Breakdown, but does anyone have any experience of these? Is the gearbox troublesome like earlier Ford autos? Has anyone got a Fusion, I would appreciate your comments. This would be a company car, we have a limited choice and the Fusion appeals. -
Delighted with my insurance quote 30 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Last year I paid £190.99 for Comprehensive any driver over 25 protected no claims discount with legal cover included. This year it is £185.47 but with the addition of DAS Breakdown cover which includes Home start. The insurance is from Fortis and sold through Budget who I originally tried on the internet despite their dreadful adverts! Regretfully for those looking for a bargain I am over 50 and the car is a 1.3litre auto metro....... -
