  New to the pages, enjoying the discussions and have written a couple of reply's so far. We have a 99 T mondeo 5-door and have noticed some slight water ingress to the n/s rear section of the boot. (This has arrived while the car stood during a thunderstorm and not through driving the car in the wet). Is this a common problem, and can anyone shed any light on the problem?

  Something seriously went wrong there (I am thinking on the lines of where they did they get those mechanics from?!?)?? Still makes you think twice next time you ask your mechanic?s opinion on why the engine diagnosis light is doing a samba on the dashboard??

  I replaced the antifreeze on friend\'s 5 series bmw 6 cyl. 1994. Job done... started it up, the temp. started rising well over half way, steaming all over the engine compartment. Tried to bleed it again on those two bleeders on top of radiator and on thermostat housing, no improvement.

  Hi, Just wondering if anyone has simple knowledge of '91 passats please. Bascially several things went at once and it's not fuses: wipers & screen wash heater fan(s) front fogs rear demister reversing light Help!! Where are they all linked? Is this a subsystem with a master fuse or something? Are they all carried alone a certain wire which could have been damaged?

  The short list is: - Volvo V70 D5 (or earlier 2.5 diesel) - Mondeo Zetec-S 2.0 TDCi (130) Estate - VW Passat TDi (130) sport Estate - Saab 9-5 2.2 TiD Vector Estate - Audi A6 1.9 Tdi (115/130) I am looking second-hand but low mileage. Clearly the Volvo and Audi (and to a lesser extent the Saab) are higher priced - but both have higher residuals - better long term investment??

  Am I deluded in wanting to buy one of these? I imagine that the mpg is pretty poor especially on the 450's and I don't have a garage. I would have hoped that the running costs would be lessened by the fact that it is mostly motorway driving. Am I asking for trouble?

  Just bought a second hand mk 4 S reg 1.6 se golf 60000 miles full dealer service history,trouble is water in oil filler cap though no mayo,have done 250 miles could it be condensation or worse still head gasket/oil cooler.(the waranty is main dealer one month satisfactory repaire or replace with simlar veihicle and 12 month vag waranty).Has any one else had this problem with mk 4 golf.

  It occurred to me that if we made it compulsory to fit them in the UK, together with a GPS tracker, we could do away with S**** C******. Detect them. Fine them. No arguments. We could call it the:- Blackbox Operated Gps Universal Speed Hazard detection device Can't think of a suitable acronym for such a detection device though.

  There is an S reg Golf gt tdi for sale through an independent garage. it's done 70000miles and looks to be in good condition. They're asking 8499 for it. I would be part ex-ing a 1995 N reg Golf match with FSH and 45000miles on the clock, which is maybe worth between 2300-2800 I think.

  A friend of mine has lost his keys to his 98 S Rover 600. He now has the red key from the previuos owner but the car will not start ie immobilised still. Dealer is telling him that he needs a new lock set plus reprogramming at a total cost of £500.

  In another thread L'escargot mentioned the driver of a Mini Cooper who he thought had been 'nabbed' for having plates which had been 'tweaked' to read like her name. I'm sure most of us have seen similar plates where 7's are made to look like T's and black dots used to make 2 different letters look like a single different letter. I always thought this was illegal but there seem to be so many about still. What is the law and should it be more rigorously enforced ?

  81/63 and there is also an additional code WA049034 on the certification of purchase attached to the bottom of the machine. It appears to be an early/mid 90's device. There are two connectors on the back, I've drawn a little diagram to represent the pins below ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - Can anyone tell me what connects to each so I can wire this in ... ?

  Can anyone please give me a website for a VAG dismantler etc (preferably S Wales)? I'm looking for a head restraint which can be swivelled forward - such as from a VAG car. The one in my VW Transporter (T4)does not swivel, and with the angle of the backrest my head is a good 5 inches away from the restraint when driving.
