  • Toyota Corolla Verso / Honda CRV / Nissan X trail - Three child seats and a big boot 29 May 2010 (Forum)
Does anyone have experience of running a Picasso as well a Verso or a CRV Mk2 or an X-trail? I'm planning on trading in my Picasso for one of the above. How does the space in the boot compare? Which is the most spacious for three car seats?

  • Mondeo - £4K family car 8 May 2010 (Forum)
My head says a Mondeo but i want to treat myself and the car won't be relied on for commuting so day to day running is not an issue. I am tempted by an '01 BMW 525, an '02 Jag x-type or an '01 Audi A4 for the same money. I am aware of the pro's and cons of the models as they stand but my  very specific question is, out of these 3, which is the best (and which is the worst) for parts and servicing prices, bearing in mind i will be fully comp as far as any bodywork parts are concerned.

  • Vauxhall Zafira - Difference between Zafira A & B 3 May 2010 (Forum)
Generally though, budget  £7-8K  expect to keep for about five years. Annual mileage 10K mostly short runs, .  2000 mile round trip to France each summer when it'll be crammed with camping equipment plus two or three  500 mile return trips to Yorkshire. I'm tall so need plenty of legroom. Any advice most welcome

  • VW GOLF GTi Mk3 1996 (november) - VW GOLF DIES AT 88/90 DEGREES ON OIL TEMP 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Car runs fine untill it reaches oil temp of 88 - 90 degrees according to dash display. The car then dies. Have only had the car for a few days and previous owner say they had no such problem, but then they probably just wanna keep my cash having told me "bought as seen" Can't even get to the bottom of the road so taking it to garage is not an option (short of having it recovered there...)

  • 1997 Volvo V40 1.9 TDI - Noise at low revs 6 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hello,   I have a problem with my 1997 Volvo V40 1.9 TDI. The engine runs fine above about 1500 RPM but when I it is idling it begins to make a load ticking noise. It also loses power at low RPM's and can be difficult to start. I have tried changing the injector nozzles but it made no difference and all the glow plugs are in full working order.

  • Renault Megane (1999 - 2002) - 01 1.4 Lumpy Tickover 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Starting the engine at home from cold the engine misses slightly on the quarter mile steep incline. Once warm the engine runs reasonably well but at idle it deviates by around 200rpm. The stepper motor and map sensor have both been replaced with s/h but working units. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • Vauxhall Astra G Coupe/Convertible (2000 - 2004) - 03 1.8 heating problems 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
After driving about 10 miles my temperature guage goes into the red, if i put the heater on full the temp comes back down to 80 or 90 deg, the heater works fine, the electric fan cuts in at around 90 deg but the radiator remains cold as does the bottom hose, the top hose is hot. I have drained and refilled the coolant but the problem still persists. The car runs fine, no startin problems and no steam or hissing, i am a little worried that the radiator is stone cold though and as i said the bottom hose is also cold, any advice would be helpful.

  • Cost effective small automatic 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
She is not sure what car she learnt to drive in or took her test in other than it was a small car and a automatic - lol. my question is, what would be a good small auto to drive locally that is relatively cheap to run, insure, relaible and safe and max spend about 4/5k plus insurance. the new micra is used by many driving schools - and appears to have a commanding driving position - so i'm assuming this meets our criteria.

  • FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - 02 1.2 Correct fuse for wipers 27 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm wondering whether anyone can confirm the correct fuse for the front wiper circuit (fuse 43) in a 2002 Fiat Punto. I've just had to change the fuse (it blew after accidentally running the wipers while the screen was solid with snow). The fitted fuse was 10A, the handbook says 30A. Of course, if it should be 30A but was actually 10A, that would explain why it blew! On the other hand, the fuse has never been changed in 7 years, so it's obviously been fine with 10A all these years, and the lower rating may well have saved a problem elsewhere.
