Peugeot 406 2.0l HDi 90 - Peugeot 406 oil in water??? - karljohns80

Hi guys, had Oil Pressure Low and STOP warning lights come on at week end. Stopped at nearest garage to check oil levels. Oil was low, more worringly was the oily water leaking out the water/antifreeze header tank. It was quite a thick consistency and very black. Car was still cold so i undid the header tank cap, the oily water poured out under pressure. The car was running fine and no strange noises. Also wasn't overheating. I took it easy back home and car now sat on drive. any suggestions???

You have three basic options, the simplest first, the oil cooler could be leaking oil into the water, to check, didconnect the water hoses from the cooler, below the oil filter and connect the ends together, give the cooling system a good flush out and try again. If that doesn't cure it theproblem will either be a failed head gasket or a crack in the head or block.
