  Say goodbye to the 6.2-litre AMG engine 8 Jun 2015 (News)
  Gindele, whose favourite engine is the 6.2-litre V8 fitted to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG , told us that work is underway to ensure the lower capacity engine, which is already fitted to some AMG variants such as the E63 AMG, will have at least as much ‘emotion’ as the 6.2 in all applications, and is set to eventually replace the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated engine entirely.

  He took his first international rally victory at the wheel of a Porsche 911 in the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally, while his last international victory came at the wheels of a Toyota on the 1990 Safari Rally, making Bjorn the oldest driver ever to win a WRC event. Along the way he drove for Porsche, Lancia, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Toyota. Sadly Bjorn succumbed to cancer last year, aged 70. Race Retro will honour his with a simple display of cars representing the Safari Toyota, his class winning RAC Toyota and the iconic 1975 RAC Lancia Stratos.

  A rare Austin Allegro Equippe valued by the Allegro Club International at £12,000 made a respectable £3,600, while a base model Allegro 1100 sold for £350. Highlights included £54,000 paid for a local one family owned 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' automatic. £23,500 paid for a lovely 1958 Triumph TR3a with hard-top. And £20,500 for a top notch 1968 Daimler V8250. The 1960 Facel Vega HK500 bid to £95,000, but did not immediately sell (though negotiations were proceeding).
