VW Golf GT TDi Sport 2008 - VW Golf GT TDi ECU Fault 5 Sep 2013 (Forum)
They told me it was a camshaft sensor fault, and in order to get to the camshaft sensor, they would have to remove the timing belt. They advised me that the timing belt should be changed, as the car is 4 years old and they don't reccommend re-using a timing belt. I called a VW garage to check that this was the correct advice and they agreed that the timing belt should also be changed. The starting fault remained and i decided to get VW to do the diagnostic (at a further cost of £70). -

I am told by a Dealer it will cost about £350 to replace the switch and do not want to spend that much on what is now an old car. I am told there are garages etc that can repair the existing unit so does anyone know of such a place preferably in the Midlands area. Regards Wellman -

High mileage Honda Jazz's? 15 May 2012 (Forum)
I am having to sell my beloved citroen xsara1.8 auto because it's 14 years old and replacing the rad will be £300+ and mechanic said it might unsettle other stuff. I'm trying to be good and go for something more fuel efficient, so test drove a c3 1.6 sensodrive and hated the engine noise and suspension. -

VW Touran TDi (168 bhp version) - VW Turbo Diesel fault 4 May 2011 (Forum)
Vehicle has only done 45,000 miles and is justover 4 years old. About a year ago, it started playing up; the warning light (the one looking like a coil) would flash, the warning chime sounded and the car went into (I suppose) limp home mode. This happened from time to time and was temporarily solved by pulling over, turning the engine off and restatrting which seemed to reset whatever was wrong. -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Air-con repair not covered by warranty? 18 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Can anybody help? Recently my two and a half year old Vectra's air-con packed up. It is completely standard 07 plate SRI cdti 150 with @ 32,000 miles. I 'phoned the local Vauxhall garage & booked the car in to be looked at under warranty. They told me that the compressor condenser needed replacing, and that the part and labour would be covered under the original 3 year warranty. -
Volvo V70 D5 - Fuel metering problem 24 Dec 2010 (Forum)
So far I have been through about 4 of these units & did manage to get one replaced under warantee because it was less than 12 months old although it took over 3 months for Bosch to agree that the item was faulty. Has anyone else had this problem & is there a way of fixing it without having to replace the unit all the time? -
Rav 4 - Considering an SUV type 22 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Current car Corolla D4D 2003 with 70k. Some cold start problems in this extreme weather, but generally satisfied, but aware that 7 years onwards things can start niggling. I allways have fancied a RAV 4 , or more recently Jeep patriot with new Merc engine. -

Mercedes Paint problems 23 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I thought that quality cars were galvanised dipped hence I was considering having a report written on the bodywork finish by a specialist company. Could anyone please advise, from their own experience whether this is the best way forward and if so perhaps recommend a reputable company, preferably in the North West so I may pursue the matter further with Mercedes. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 2.0 over revving on braking etc 16 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Pulled over and left it for a minute and it seems to have sorted itself out, but wonder what is causing it and if it is likely to happen again. The clutch is slipping and now due a new cam belt (done 89,000 miles and 10 years old) but as I know nothing about cars, don't know if any of this is significant. Would welcome any suggestions. Thanks. -
Kwik-Fit Aircon recharge £45 - any one used it? 24 Jun 2009 (Forum)
The A/C didn't seem to be as cold as it should be. It's working but seems to have gradually got less cold. The car is 6 years old and it's never had a recharge. I read somewhere that A/C systems "lose 10% of the refrigerant each year" - surely that's only if there is a leak? I see Kwik-Fit are doing a recharge (inc lubricant) for £45 inc VAT which seems to be the cheapest around my area.
