Nissan Note 1.5dci December 2006 - Differential oil seal 16 Mar 2012 (Forum)
This may even lead to requiring a new gearbox perhaps? Are you aware of any such problems with the Note Renault gearboxes. Highest Regards Chris G Gwent -
New Buyers Help 14 Mar 2012 (Forum)
The only thing thats cheap are the French cars, and while I do think think the French do make a decent car, everyone tells me the autos are rubbish (espicially Renault). Because I need the auto, I am advised to get German, American, or Japanese but that costs much much more... So my question to you all: AM I CRAZY IN MY LOGIC? Most people think I am. -
Audi A3 - Advice on buying Automatics 28 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I apologise in advance for transferring the brain-ache and / or if this has already been covered somewhere else. To summarise, my last two cars have been semi-automatic gearboxes (1st one a Renault Clio Quickshift, 2nd a Citroen C3 Sensodrive) and both have been spectacularly, almost outstandingly unreliable, almost killed me on several occasions and ended their sorry lives as part ex’s that went for peanuts. -

03 Laguna repair - opinions needed 13 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Hi folks, My wife's been having problems with her 2003 Renault Laguna 1.6 petrol in the past week or so. She was out doing some shopping last Friday week when the car refused to start back up. She reckons it was running extremely 'growly' prior to parking it. -
Nissan Almera: manual or automatic? 4 Feb 2006 (Forum)
. :) There's just a few things I haven't decided on about the Almera. 1) I like automatics, because they encourage a more relaxed driving style, and I'm tempted to get one because there seems to be a reasonable choice available at a resaonable price -- but is it a reliable auto box? I know that the usual advice is to avoid Ford and Renault autos, but is the Nissan auto likely to be reasonably reliable for a vehicle I intend to keep for about 100,000 miles over 10 years? 2) 1.5 or 1.8? The automatic only comes with the 1.8 litre engine, but if I don't go for auto there is the choice of the 1.5. -
New Almera for under £6k - no brainer? 12 Nov 2005 (Forum)
, Elec windows, 3 year G/Tee, a Euro NCAP rating of 4 stars (against I seem to remember 2 for the 'old' style Fiesta - ask 'Renault Family' if Stars are important......), plus a few other bits and bobs (CD player for example)..... This seems hard to resist. So £5,949 - £2,300 private sale on the Ford = £3,649 to find. Recently sold house and moving to East Sussex (wife to do School run with 5 yr old daughter every day ((no choice - sorry)). -
Advice/input re 75 buying decision 23 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I'm also wondering whether or not I should hold off till the new year to let used Rover prices ease. I have a Renault Clio dci Dynamique to trade in, to which I had added an alarm and climate control as options. It's eleven months old with 7100 miles, and I think waiting till the new year might actually increase my cost to change as depreciation on the Rover now won't be as steep as it will be on the Clio. -
Grand Scenic - full review. 3 May 2007 (Forum)
There's an intermittent squeak from somewhere down in the driver's footwell and another from the load area, but they're not intrusive. Build quality in comparison to the Renaults of yesteryear is in a different league, although it somehow doesn't feel as robust as the Mondeo, despite nicer touchy feely plastics. This is just gut feeling though, and I have no evidence to back it up. -

Nissan Micra/Fiesta/Peugeot - Used cars 24 Sep 2018 (Forum)
(Recently been told high mileage doesn't necessarily mean that it's a nail as long as it's got good MOT history (absolutely love the MOT checker on the web) Love fords as easy to get parts for but Father in law has had issues with every ford he's had (mainly focus and mondeo (coil packs, munching oil etc) Love pugs too but would prefer diesel although diesels are like rocking horse crap to get hold of. Same with fiestas Micra-heard Nissan are great makes BUT since Renault got involved, loads of issues with electrics? Told K11 best model but as I said, don't want a matchbox on wheels. Not bothered about number of doors as coped perfectly well with 3 doors on polo. Must be cheap on insurance (polo was group 4, paid 72 a month which as a new driver isn't bad) I know used cars are always going to be a gamble and would rather stick to the makes I know (mentioned above) but don't want to end up with another problem. -

Ford Fiesta - Disappointing new models 23 Jul 2017 (Forum)
It was replaced by a car which was considerably larger, less interesting to look at and it came nowhere close to being the sales success of the older car - the original regularly sold over 100K per year, the new model only once managed to sell into six figures. Others? Ford Ka. Fiat Punto (Mark 1 to Mark 2). Renault Twingo (Mark 1 to Mark 2). Nissan Micra (Mark 3 to Mark 4). I could go on. Let's get the discussion going. I am sure there are a lot of opinions on the matter. -
Volkswagen Golf - Help a young female buy a Golf please! 18 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Car dealers spot me, see me coming and add an extra £1000 on, no doubt. When I was 18 I bought a Renault Clio (used) 1.2 for £6,000. Plus £2,000 for the privilege of a finance option. I didn't even query it - I just walked in and signed on the dotted line. Many years later, after finally paying it off and being in a good financial position, I'm looking to upgrade. -
Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 3-Door 1.9 CDTi Design - Buy A Vauxhall Astra 17 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Not naming names who the dealership is but on their website it states :One of the Midlands largest independently owned, family run car Dealer Groups. And they sell Nissan, Renault, Dacia, Peugeot, Suzuki, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Citroen . Oh yes I forgot to say the original sales man said he could knock off £500 from the £6,995 if I wanted the car even though It was not part of his stock ....
