  • Insects 14 May 2018 (Forum)
In the past, I recall my windscreen being plastered with dead insects after a drive in the sunshine, now I know we haven’t had much sun lately, but it never happens anymore. The other day a solitary moth on the screen sparked my memory, where have they all gone? With bees in decline we need every pollinator, what’s happened?

Driving on the A14 last night at 9.30pm, eastbound just after the fixed speed camera after the A11 joins in the Cambridge/Newmarket area i spotted a speed camera van parked up in the next layby, right at the beginning and sitting away from the kerb as they do when working.

  • Vauxhall Astra H - Gear stick won't spring back in neutral 14 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Gear stick is fine first thing in the morning, but soon as i drive more than 3 miles the gearstick won't spring back in neutral? Goes stiff & stays to the way you push it, gear changes are fine though
  • width with mirrors folded 2 Jun 2017 (Forum)
We've got a rather narrow drive, so before buying I wanted to know which of our alternatives would fit (eg Zafira, Verso, Touran). But dammit, the makers, Parkers and so on specify the width over mirrors, and the width without mirrors (for whatever use that is to anybody), BUT NOT width with mirrors folded.

  • Ban older drivers? 23 Sep 2016 (Forum)
How nice to read that according to research older drivers are mostly ok and generally no more dangerous than any other group, indeed the older drivers are more likely to try to drive carefully. Oldest uk driver apparently is 108.
  • CRV - Honda 24 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Hi there, new post/1st post. My Honda crv has just rolled off my drive and hit a tree. There is damage to the rear of the car. Not concerned about damage to the tree and no other parties are involved. My question is - can I make a claim on my insurance? Fully aware that I will have to pay excess and it will screw my no claims.

  • Shallow grooves on v-belts 4 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I went to Europarts to change the drive belt on my Clio and the new one - which was the correct one - had shallower grooves than the old one, in fact they hardly had any depth at all. I returned this item and went to another supplier and here also the grooves were shallow but not as bad as Europarts.

  • SEAT Leon ST - Coolant light 27 Jul 2015 (Forum)
The light stayed on initially but then when I stopped and restarted the engine the light went out. The engine was about 90 degrees when driving. Is this likely a faulty light on the dashboard or something that needs further investigation?
  • 2007 Focus 1.6 TDCI, 113k miles, worth it? 24 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I'm looking at buying a budget diesel for driving to work, mostly. Any recommendations for the 2007 Focus 1.6 TDCI, 113k miles? Had it's belt and pump done recently, haven't seen the car yet. Are these engines durable? How many miles more they will pull?
  • Hyundai Getz - engine management light 29 Nov 2014 (Forum)
The check engine management light has started to flash occasionally when accelerating at low revs and the car Judders. The light then goes off and the car drives as it should again. Otherwise the car is very smooth and mint. Any ideas what this could be?
