Ford focus 1.6 tdci - Driving me mad 15 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Ongoing since July, rac said fuel filter, replaced, Garage said maf sensor, replaced, another garage said no its instrument cluster, repaired, none have fixed it whatsoever so had a 4th person put it on diagnostics yet again & came up with the following fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high input Intake high temperature circuit high input Crankshaft Position sensor A circuit malfunction Crankshaft Position sensor A circuit intermittent Now before I just replace the sensors as I have been told to do surely wiring etc etc needs to be checked first no? Undriveable as either doesnt start, bucks like a kangaroo, seems to jump start itself mid driving or just doesn't start, lack of throttle sporadically & stinks of fuel -
Strange Hillman auto box 7 Jun 2019 (Forum)
He bought a Hillman Minx (the rounded one before the arrow shape) He had difficulty reversing it. My dad was frequently asked to reverse it onto his drive and take it for a service etc This auto box was like no other i have seen since as it has some sort of a clutch & a column gear selector lever. My dad used to hate driving it as he would say it was like driving a car with no gears and did not feel in control This was defiantly a automatic car and not something modified for the disabled Anyone remember these... -
Children damage and responsibility question 1 Apr 2019 (Forum)
What can I do about a number of children aged between 2 and 7 running around my drive where two cars are parked. The front is open with 2 parking spaces which is my drive, but there are no front gardens and the neighbours also have their own parking bay in front. You can't blame children for playing at the front as they don't understand boundaries and it is worse still as it is housing association so some parents aren't bothered around the adjacent properties. -

I found it very good to drive when I tested it, just rather over-priced when new. I would hope if the people above go for a test drive in the newer KIAs/Hyundais (not the old Venga/ix20) that they check the ride quality, as the review on the HJ website side they were rather firm riding, like CX-3's Sport version. -
Building up confidence for new driver 18 Apr 2018 (Forum)
My wife passed her test in February and we found a nice little car for her, although it took 2 months for the sale to go through (Dealer was on holiday, then issue with electrics) and we finally picked it up on Sunday. She took it out for her first solo drive yesterday, and scraped a car in a car park (related thread is in legal matters!), and now her confidence, which was low anyway, is probably at rock bottom. It doesn't help that she's a teacher and currently a lot of her form group are passing their tests and driving off just Aside from getting her back into the car and getting her to drive me around (and some parking practice, probably in spaces next to my car) can anyone offer any tips to help bring her confidence up? -
Driving ban 16 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Hi. My friend got a letter from the DVLA saying he had been banned from driving. This was the first notice he had. He called up and asked why and they said thay he had not responded to letters sent. The incident occurred last year and was in Kent. He looked on his dart account and it showed he hadn't crossed into Kent on the particular day. -
renault megane, gear linkage play 13 May 2017 (Forum)
Seems crazy on such an old car, but i tested many new cars and could not get to grips with them. Apparently people hate driving the older meganes due to heavy clutches etc, but i guess i must have got to used to driving it, anyway. after all the work i noticed that the car is driving very well however play in the gear stick, side to side, anyway got the bush and circlip from renault, for five pounds. -
Any - Driving licence renewal - don't be too hasty! 20 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Just a heads-up about renewing your driving licence. I received a reminder on Monday that mine expired on 1st March 2017. As I was not particularly busy, I renewed it straight-away using the very simple on-line portal. This uses your existing passport photograph, so it is all done "on-line", (you have to register or use your existing Government Gateway account, but this is also very easy). -
Bentley Bentayga - Bentley Bentagya 30 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Had the (dis)pleasure of test driving the Bentley Bentayga. 1) To drive like a loon around back roads its fun and impressive 2) To look at from a distance it looks good 3) To drive sedately it feels swimmy and made me car sick as a driver (I'm never car sick) 4) That big shiny grill at the front is just plastic 5) There are lots of Audi Q7 bits on the inside which cheapen it - more plastic 6) The Event Specification (£2500) consists of a flimsy fold down seat and poor fitting mechanism that I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred £ for 7) You can buy a top spec Range Rover with all the toys for the entry level price of the Bentayga and you would have a better car in all manners Yes its fast, yes it looks good but it is not worth it in any way. -
Vauxhall Zafira A (1999 - 2005) - 2000 1.8 Auto - cuts out when driving 11 Oct 2015 (Forum)
The problem i have is that the car revs drop to 450rpm then engine cuts out when i take my foot off the accelorator when driving. This is becoming increasingly dangerous and now cuts out mid flow of traffic as well as when pulling out at junctions or at roundabouts. I've had a few near misses to being hit by other vehicles and now desparate to get this fixed. -
Honda Jazz 2009 - Driving an automatic in the snow 19 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi there I live in Yorkshire and have a 30 min commute to work. We get a fair amount of snow. I have been used to driving a skoda fabia manual and have been pretty pleased with how I can handle it especially with winter tyres on. However it is becoming old and unreliable in other ways and we gave been offered a 2009 Honda Jazz automatic by a family member. -

Last week I was driving home from work and my engine management light came on with the alarm “Anti-Pollution Fault” on the display screen. The car went into “limp” mode and I very slowly drove it home. -
When buying a car - Reception at dealerships 31 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Vauxhall, saleman came out quickly but just lost interest quickly too. (insignia petrol fairly low on my list) Toyota, again very helpful, yes sir test drive when you want, ask anything you want, good impressions. Honda, as good as Toyota same offers for test drives. Ford, myself and another lady (seperately) looking at cars in front of showroom in view of salespeople, totally ignored. -
1998 Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.25 16v - Power issues 5 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Im getting a problem where after starting the engine and driving away, the car lurches around quite badly for a short while, maybe 15 or 20 seconds, before it carries on driving fine. Im also getting an issue where, at 50/55 mph and above i reguarly lose power and have to remove my foot from the throttle and then put it back before I get any response from the engine and the car carries on driving. -

Driving in France - Beware 26 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I've just come back from a great holiday in France - however I witnessed a Gendarme sting exercise in a major service station whilst driving south between Calais and Rouen. There were a few blue Gendarme cars/vans and a double decker car transporter full of cars - some with roof boxes etc.. and as far as I could see as I nervously drove past ALL the cars were from the UK. -
Named driver accidents and insurance 10 Apr 2012 (Forum)
My wife and I are renewing our car insurance, and would like to double check what we do, and do not need to declare. 1. In 2011, my wife was driven into, driving my car, as a named driver on my insurance. The other driver was at fault, and our car was written off. I'm confident I need to declare this. 2. Later the same year, my wife's mum was driving another car, on my wife's insurance as a named driver. -
Renault Megane (1999 - 2002) - 00 1.6 engine cutting out (driving through water) 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I have a big problem with my megane. Engine keeps cutting out usually when driving in rain or through water that can get to the engine. The revs are falling down and then the car stops after a while, it often happens while trying to change gear. The when I am trying to start it up, the engine turns but it is not starting.
