  • Keep the bonnet shut!! 18 Mar 2004 (Forum)
On non executive cars: Low brake fluid indicators are normal. Electronic dipstick is available e.g. Renault Scenic. Low coolant / overheating. Yaris has no temp gauge just blue thermometer on start up and red if things overheat. Batteries sealed for life but charge indicator obviously standard. Low washer bottle contents warning e.g.
  • Lagos ... Motoring hell! 20 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Also poholed and ditched... even more fun at 80km/h VEHICLES: Minibus taxis abound, plus ,millions of mopeds, normally with three occupants. Skoda, VW, Merc, Renault all well represented, as are Toyota, Nissan and Peugeot. Most vehicles seem to be Pug 504's (the circa 75 one!), favoured by govt departments, it wopuld appear. about 10% of all vehicles DON'T have some form of accident damage!
  • Not again - one for my personal team 22 Feb 2002 (Forum)
All my children have come home to roost. You solved the motor caravan. How about this please? My lovely step daughter has a B reg Renault 5 Le Car (posh eh) by the name of Ronald, which is only marginally younger than she. I do my best and she thinks I am a genius because to date all the problems have been very basic. This one probably is too, but I'm not sure, so without telling her, I sneak into the back room to preserve my reputation.

  • Picked up the Scenic today.... 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
It's the refinement of the thing that gets me though - it's hard to believe this and the Mondeo run on the same fuel. The Renault engine is a little clattery under load when cold, but once warm it's smoother and quieter than the 1.6 petrol we also drove and in a different league to the admittedly olde worlde Mondeo. It has none of the rumble of a Ford or VAG diesel, just a slightly "ticky" background hum overlaid with the odd whistle from the turbo.
  • Ford Ka etc - Small city car - runabout/learner car 6 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I’m looking for a small city type car that I can use to pop into town and park easily, and that my 17 year old can learn to drive in. I have a hybrid Renault Arkana as my main vehicle, so a small manual gearbox car is all I’m looking for, A/C required. Hopefully when he’s passed his test, he will take it on, so must be very low insurance group too.

  • What car should I buy? 12 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I know next to nothing about cars (except how to drive them) so am looking for expert, or at least well-informed opinions on what I should get next. For the past 3 years I've had a Renault Megane (on finance). It's a fine car, but unfortunately it fails every MOT test, and the payments are now excessively more than the car is worth due to me agreeing to a ridiculous finance offer. Someone suggested I take it back to AvailableCar and work out a deal to end the agreement early since I'm well over halfway through.
  • I need your help about car selection 7 Dec 2018 (Forum)
In the end, I found 2-3 options to buy; Toyota Avensis T3, 2004, 109K miles, 1.8 petrol (700 pounds) Toyota Avensis T2, 2005, 130K miles, 1.8 petrol (500 pounds) Mazda 6 TS, 2007, 73K miles, 2.0 diesel (900 pounds) Renault Megane, 2006, 82K miles, 1.6 petrol (750 pounds) Note: All options has about 300 days MOT. I think first option (Avensis T3, 109K miles) is very suitable for me. What do you think?
